OverviewSlotted in price and scanning performance between our Models 22 and 24 bar code readers, the unparalleled fl exibility of the AdaptaScan makes it ideally suited for dis-tribution channels and installations where several different scanner confi gurations are required under one roof.

Changes can be made to the AdaptaScan on-site in a matter of minutes with the easy-to-use confi guration software. Since parameters such as scan pattern, focus and communications can be easily modifi ed, generic spare units can be stocked to support many different applications.

Rugged and FlexibleThe AdaptaScan is packaged in a compact, rugged, IP56-rated cast-aluminum enclo-sure. The detachable wiring base provides watertight strain reliefs for cable entry, and terminal blocks for all electrical connections. This simplifi es fi eld wiring and allows the scanning unit to stay out of harm’s way during the installation process. When ready for use, the scanning unit plugs onto the wiring base and mounts with four screws, completing the NEMA 4 enclosure. Diagnostic LEDs built into the top of the scanning unit provide system status information at a glance.

The AdaptaScan has an extensive array of interfacing options, including DeviceNet, DH-485, DF1, and RS-232/422/485. Two optional solid-state I/O modules can be used for interfacing with a wide range of industrial equipment.

An array of AdaptaScan readers can be used in a peer-to-peer arrangement to allow for the sharing of input and output signals, and the routing of bar code data through one specifi c unit, eliminating the need for a separate multiplexer in many applications.
