Arup and Clough have teamed up to deliver the industry award winning ACE platform range. Together our capabilities cover the full spectrum of engineering, project management, fabrication, installation and commissioning. We can provide turnkey solutions for the smallest well-head structure to large-scale facilities.
ACE (Arup Concept Elevator) platforms have a proven, successful track record. They are cost effective and have low implementation risk. This is achieved by using tried and tested technologies in a new way. The range covers water depths from 15m up to 120m, and deck weights from 100te to 30,000te.
Topside equipment is preassembled on a single level deck ensuring rapid delivery and minimal offshore hookup and commissioning. Topsides can be readily expanded or modified as field requirements change.
ACE platforms have been specifically developed to combine the advantages of traditional fixed platforms with the flexibility offered by a mobile unit.
They comprise three main steel components: a barge deck, tubular or lattice legs and the foundation unit (either a gravity base, or piles). ACE platforms can be fabricated at local yards without the need for extensive equipment or specialist expertise, and require only tugs and strand jacks for installation and relocation.
The fact that ACE platforms are not reliant on heavy lift crane vessels is one of the keys to their economic success. This lowers the risk profile of projects for developers as installation of the platform is less sensitive to adverse weather than traditional solutions. In many cases installation can be completed within two days of arrival at the platform site.
At the end of their operational life, ACE platforms can be completely removed for recycling, or reconfigured for reuse at an alternative location.
OMV New Zealand’s Maari DrillACE is on target for installation in the second quarter of 2008. It will be the third ACE platform to be delivered.
