First and foremost, of course, are

the campers, who are making their

debut for the 2013 season. There areso many wonderful new faces. Our

brand new campus atKol Ami is not

only a breathtaking sight but feature

fantastic air conditioning, as well! Fo

Day One, Davening and learning wer

pushed off a bit for the announce-

ment of the new bunks. All of the

kids had to learn who their coun

    selors were!After the announce

    ments, Learning went smashing

with some of the bunks inishing

the entire Torah in just one ses-

sion. Was that Torah or Horah?

    Either way they really accom-

plished a lot and we were very

    proud. After Davening and Learn

    Bowling at Hi-Spot Lanes.

Bunk Aleph (K&G) met the greatMr.

Ira Sommers who spends his Sum-

    mers helping teach sports to

    the kids of Achdus! Follow-

ing that they met the great

    Mrs. Doris Lipsky for Arts

    and Crafts. Oh, did they

    Craft some incredible art!

After camp, perhaps we will do an art

show and sell these wonderful works

for millions! Other great activities of

the day included Human Bingo. Did

you know thatAvromy P. has a bro-

ken leg? Well yeah I guess you did.

    T U E S D A Y

Its a short one because of thefast,

    but all the morefast-paced! Davening

and Learning were incredible with the

    bunks learning their rou-

    tines! Afterwards Bunk

    Daled Gadol played Hock-

ey in the parking lot and

they just did not want to

    come in! GaGa, Football,

Wonderball , WOW, what a day!

    W E D N E S D A Y :

It was inally here! Trip Day at

Camp Achdus!Aleph and Ches went to

Smith Parkwhere there are worlds of

fun to play all day! And what is that in-

teresting object being built by the brand

new Specialty staff? Beams and rims?

Oh! A brand new Basketball net!!! Cant

wait to play! And why is that tire sitting

upon some benches by lunch? Oh, a

football tire throw. Cool! Who will be

    able to score?

There was swimming for the older

division at the YMCA. That is one beau-

tiful pool! Maybe one day they will let

    us swim in the deep.

Sports is o to a winning start. The rst day of camp, every-

body was full of energy. FULL of

energy. So we played a fun, fast

    -paced, high-energy game

    called Fishy-Fishy. This got eve-

    rybodys hearts pumping, from

    shies to sharksand even the

    seaweed.

The next day of sports was

    SoccerMania. On sun-baked

Field #1, we learned some skills

and rules and had a blast. Thecampers got a kick out of play-

ing with their counselors and I

got a kick out of watching your

sons play. I am highly impressed

    with how your boys follow

rules, play nicely with each oth-

    er, and show overall good

    middos. Your hard work at

home is shining on the eld.

    It was finally

    here! Trip Day at

    Camp Achdus!

    TUESDAY JULY 9, bring a

friend for the day! We will be

    having a renowned illusionist

    camp. Prepare to be amazed

Week in review (continued from Page 2)sion goes to Hi Spot where we can

bowl the day away and score strikes

and spares. And no one bought any

soda or candy from the candy ma-chines. Right? We also go to Kendrick

park for lunch and sports. The young-

er division plays all sorts of games

like accapela musical chairs with a

twist. Land on the wrong chair and

you just might have to sing some

opera or do ten jumping jacks.

    On Wednesday,

    bunks Alef and

    Cheswent to

    Smith Memorial

    Playground.Smiths play-

ground is situated on 6 /acres of open ields, wooded

    terrain, and sloped hills

and is home to the century

    old Ann Newman Giant

Wooden Slide, as well as oth-

    er unique pieces of play

    equipment, such as *The Spi-

    ders Web and *The Spinning

    Pyramid (*names of equip-

    menthave been changed to

    protect the innocent). After

    over an hour of intensely

    relaxing play, overheating

    campers eagerly embraced a

    once-in-a-summer oppor-

tunity to cool off in the cool,

    revitalizingwaters of

    anopened ire hydrant. Once

    nearly dry, campers and

    counselors boarded the bus

for the trip back to camp.

    Nestled safely in our seats,

    we communicatedwith the

    road (because camp has a

    strict no hitting policy). We

    hadnt heard more than

    three tummy growelswhen

    we understood with ut-

    most certainty that snack

time, with all of its becks

and calls, was formidablyupon us. "What was on the

    menu?" you ask. "Was it

    cookies?" Ah, cookies, a

    favorite camp pastime! No,

    it wasnt cookies. Was it

    licorice? Camps often serve

    licorice, you recall from

your own camp days. No, I

    say. Wrong again. Oh, I

    know what snack it must

    have been! You gave out

    freeze pops, right? Every

    camp serves freeze pops!

Well, now youre on to some-

    thing. The camp does have

    freeze pops with no added

    colors, which are given out

    on special occasions. But, no,

that was not the snack of

    choice on this trip. Then

what was it?! you ask, with

    a tone of hopeless frustration

in your voice. I will tell you.

    It was juicier than cookies,

    more refreshing than Twiz-

    zlers, and simply more nour-

    ishing than any freeze pop

could ever hope to be. Your

    sons, whose health you cher-

    ish more than nearly any-

    thing else in the entire

    world, enjoyed, relished, and

    downright devoured fresh

    peaches and plums. (Kudos

    to Mrs. Chani C. Goldstein

    for shopping!) When every

last piece of fruit was eaten,

    we said no, sang! borei

    nifashos, led by expert vocal-

    ists and musicians, Rabbi

    Zecharya Michelsohn and

    Yehuda Tenenbaum. Here,

    at Camp Achdus, we love

your sons. And so, we take

care of them as though they

    were our very own.
