quarter (October-December 2010) of FY11, a growth of over
34.44 per cent over the corresponding period in the last fiscal(October-December 2009) of FY 10.
The companys profit before tax (before exceptional items) for
the period stood at Rs 587.87 crore, while profit after tax(PAT) for the period stood at Rs 429.00 crores. The company
has recorded an EBIDTA margin of 11.17 per cent.
Hero Honda had registered its highest ever quarterly sales of
14,28,030 two-wheelers in the third quarter this fiscal, fuelledby its half million-plus unit sales in the months of October and
December 2010. Hero Honda also for the first time crossed the
five million unit sales during calendar year 2010, retaining the
coveted status of World No.1 two-wheeler manufacturer forthe 10th consecutive year.
Dr. Brijmohan Lall, Chairman, Hero Honda Motors Ltd,
said, It has indeed been a very satisfying performance overthe past several quarters. And now we are taking strides
towards our larger vision, in keeping with the aspirations of a
progressive India. The future looks bright and we will strive
towards providing the best to our customers.
Mr. Pawan Munjal, MD & CEO, Hero Honda Motors
Ltd.,said For the past few quarters, the industry has faced amultitude of issues with constraints in supply of components
and rising input costs. Our margins have been under pressureon account of that. While we expect the market demand for
two-wheelers to remain bullish and we are confident of
carrying on our growth trajectory, we do foresee margins to
remain under pressure in the short term.
We, as a company, are also in the middle of a transition.Last week, we have signed the new licensing agreements with
Honda. We are also close to finalizing the location for our
ourth plant. We will shortly be making an announcement in
this regard even as we keep adding further capacities at our
existing three plants.

installed capacity in our existing manufacturing plants, and
also at the possibility of a new plant sometime in the near
uture.
Instead of resting on our laurels, we are indeed relentlessly
working towards bringing more innovative, value-added
products for our customers. As we enter the calendar year

are closely monitoring the movement of commodity prices
which are on an upward trajectory. The rising input costs, as
indeed the retail financing situation, remain areas of concern
or the industry.

We would like to thank our customers, suppliers, dealers, employees and also our joint venture partners again for their
faith in us and for their full support given in so many different
ways.
Mr. Pawan Munjal, MD & CEO, Hero Honda Motors
Ltd., saidWere delighted to report our best quarter ever,
with the highest revenue and earnings in Hero Hondashistory. The momentum from a strong FY09 has gotten us off
to an excellent start in FY10. Our sales continue to be robust, and profitability has improved by a record 83%. Our ongoing
focus on continuous innovation in every sphere of our
business and fiscal discipline have allowed us to leverage our
double-digit sales growth into robust earnings for the quarter. Our operating performance is excellent at both the top and
bottom lines. Our balance sheet and liquidity position give usagility and flexibility in todays weakened global economyand turbulent financial markets.
The speed and strength of our business model has injectedstrong momentum into our market positions and paced our
growth. We will continue our dynamic development of the
two-wheeler market by maintaining a strong focus on
expanding the customer reach and by offering technologicallysuperior products. We have a rigorous expansion plan in
place.
With over 59 per cent market-share in the domestic
motorcycle market and with sales of over a million units in the
quarter, the robust top line growth has largely contributed tothe strong bottom line performance. Several other key factors
such as cost rationalization across the board, softening of
commodity prices, and tax benefits also contributed to thebottom line. The current quarter reflects a substantial tax
benefit accrued on account of the companys full utilization of
the tax benefits available for the Haridwar plant, which
resulted in bringing down the overall effective tax rate.,
The consistent robust top line performance has been driven by
volume growth across segments and markets, aggressive brandbuilding initiatives and rapid network expansion, reflecting the
strong brands and continued expansion of new markets. Most
of the recent launches such as Passion Pro, Splendor NXGself-start, the special edition Hunk, the new Pleasure, in
addition to the trusted Splendor + and Passion Plus, have been
