Lessons Learned
1. Insist on conservative budgets; most conference organizers are unaware of budgetary constraints.
2. Seek inexpensive venues (e.g., Universities) in attractive locations particularly in Europe and Asia; avoid hotel meetings, if possible.
3. Seek new ways to attract and retain members (e.g., new benefits ?).
4. Be prudent and do not overextend conference sponsorship! There are (too) many conferences already in the security area.
