Founded in 1974, Acquisitions begun life as anarchitectural antique business but soon specialisedin rescuing beautiful antique fireplaces that had beenevicted from their home in the name of fashion.As suitable originals became scarcer, we set aboutthe ambitious task of replicating Victorian cast-ironfireplaces, and were proud to lead the way in restoringthe period mantelpiece to its rightful place in theBritish public's consciousness.

Today, the Acquisitions collection of ‘continuations’ – the word ‘reproductions’ does not do our products justice, since they are so faithfully recreated using authentic skills, techniques andmaterials – is one of the finest and mostcomprehensive in the world, encompassing everymaterial from marble to cast-iron, and every stylefrom Georgian to modern-day. While notable clientshave included pop stars, film icons and denizens of 10 Downing Street, The White House andBuckingham Palace, we are pleased to offereverything from private commissions to competitivelypriced models. The ACQUISITIONS NEWYORK BOLECTION is a trueclassic. It may be based on a 16th-century design but this hand-carved sandstone surroundworks just about anywhere. Here we’ve paired it with the 18th-century-style but surprisinglymodern-looking Devonshire steelhob grate – suitable for solid fuelor a coal or pebble gas fire – and a granite hearth.
