Rules and ConditionsE1a. LOCALS: refers to competitors residing within

the areas bounded by Lindis Saddle, Makarora; Crown Range; Victoria Bridge and Cromwell.

E1b. CENTRAL OTAGO: refers to competitors of Central Otago Pony Clubs at Maniototo; Clyde; Cromwell; Teviot Valley; Wakatipu and Hawea/ Wanaka, and must wear pony club uniform and be a current financial member.

Age and Height. Rider and Horse E2a. Open pony exhibits must be ridden by riders

under seventeen years of age. Novice ponies may be ridden by riders of any age.

E2b. Rider/Handlers’ age and eligibility is determined as per the 1st August ie. Riders/Handlers’ who are of age for any division/section on the 1st August complete the show year/season in that division/section.

E2c. Riders 16 years and under cannot compete in both horse and pony rings. Must be in one or the other.

E2d. No Horse or Pony under 3 years old is permitted to be shown under saddle

E2e. Ponies 148cm and under excluded from all horse events.

EligibilityE3a. Stallions eligible provided that the RAS

Rule CDE 14 is complied with and that the Livestock Secretary is notified and satisfied that all requirements are fulfilled.

E3b. Stallions are not to be tied up unattended unless in an appropriate confinement. It is recommended that stallions be kept in approved suitable yards. At the time of entry, all stallion owners must be in the possession of a stallion identification badge, which must be displayed at the yard and on the horse at all times while at the Show. Official badges are available at a cost from NZEF.

E3c. In the warm up area, a stallion must be accompanied by at least one attendant, in addition to the rider. It is compulsory for all stallions and colts, except foals, to wear two (2)

official ‘S” identification badges, one attached to each side of their bridle, at all Shows/Events at all times. The rider/handler must also wear two RAS official (2) armbands (one on each arm) when in the ring. ‘S’ badges to be purchased from RAS Head Office or ESNZ; armbands from RAS Head Office.

E3d. All horses and ponies entered in competitive classes or ring events or parading (whether by invitation or by entry) must be entered in the name of the bona fide owner. All animals must be named at time of entry.

E3e. COH Classes 3 & 7 All entrants for these classes must be able to provide Hunt Qualification Cards showing that the horse/pony hunted with the Central Otago Hunt hounds at least three times during the season immediately prior to the show. These hunt cards must be photocopied, sent in with entries, and presented at time of presentation of ribbons. To receive a qualification card the rider/owner must be a financial member of COH.

E3f. CHO Open Qualified Hunter Class 10. This class is open to current financial members of any Hunt. The horse must have hunted 3 times in the season immediately prior to the show. Official Hunt Qualification Cards must be signed by the Hunt Master & a copy sent in with entries plus be carried at time of competition.

Protests, Judges’ & Committee’s RightsE4a. The Stewards in the various classes are

enjoined and empowered to prevent any persons interfering with the Judges during adjudication and no exhibitor or other person otherwise than the Judge, Stewards and Livestock Secretary will be permitted to go inside the ring while the exhibits are being judged, except in such cases as the Stewards may deem necessary.

E4b. The Committee may reserve the right to allot Specials in lieu of prize money mentioned in this schedule.

E4c. All Protests to be lodged with the Livestock Secretary accompanied with a deposit of $50, within half an hour of adjudication and if, in the opinion of the committee such protest is deemed frivolous, the deposit to be forfeited.

E4d. The Committee will not under any circumstances hold itself responsible for any loss, damage or mis-delivery of stock or other exhibits at the Show.

E4e. Any person infringing the rules of the Society will be liable to a penalty not exceeding $50.

The attention of exhibitors is particularly directed to the foregoing provisions which will

be strictly enforced, or will revert to the funds of the Society.

E4f. The decision of the Committee shall be absolutely final on any subject on Show Day.

E4g. Officials have the power in the equestrian sections to move stock to their correct classes with the approval and on advice of Judges.

E4h. Any exhibitor or person in any way interfering with or using improper language to the Judges or any officer of the Society in, or as to, the execution of their duty, or being guilty of improper conduct on the Showground, may be disqualified upon exhibiting in future shows of the Society, and if exhibiting at this Show, may forfeit all prizes he or she has won.

E4i. Reservation of right. The organizers reserve the right:

To cancel any class or event To divide any class and amend prize money

accordingly To alter the advertised times To refuse any entry (with or without stating a

reason) To alter or amend the programme as the

organizer sees fit Any unruly or dangerous animal may be

required to leave the Showground. E4j. The RAS ‘Yellow Card’ system; please read full

rule wording under the General Information Section of this schedule.E4k. The Committee reserves the right to cap entry

numbers in any section, regardless of entry closure date.

E4l. The Committee reserves the right to merge classes if entry numbers are low.

Novice CriteriaE5a. A novice horse or pony is one that has yet

to win six classes in any division within the competitions provided at any A&P Show.

E5b. The owner of any horse or pony that has upgraded since their entry was received must notify the Livestock Secretary so that the necessary adjustments can be made. If a Horse or Pony has upgraded at another A & P show after entry has been received by the Livestock Secretary then no fee for alteration will apply providing proof of upgrade is shown and the Livestock Secretary is notified by 4pm on Monday 4th March.

E5c. Please note that a record of wins will be asked for. Horse/Pony height and performance cards must be carried. Failure to do so will result in elimination. All wins in Novice section within each division count and must be recorded. Should a novice horse win an Open conformation class, these wins must

also be recorded. Once a horse has achieved 6 wins in either the conformation or Paced and Mannered, this horse is not eligible to return to Novice status should it change sections at the beginning of the new season. A Novice is a horse or pony which has not won 6 firsts in relevant classes at the time of the Show, not at the time of entry. See E5b for upgrade details.

ENTRY FEES,SCRATCHING, REFUNDS, PAYOUTSE6a. All livestock entries close with the Livestock

Secretary on FRIDAY 14TH FEBRUARY 2020. E6b. Entry Fees must accompany all entries. Late

Entries will be charged an additional $15. Refund of entry fees will only be considered

if scratchings are made officially with the Livestock Secretary either prior to the Show or in sufficient time to avoid disruption to the smooth running of the competition.

i.e. full refund if scratching is made before Friday 28th February. 75% refund if scratching is made before Thursday 12th March 2020, 4pm. No refund will be given after this time unless a vet certificate is produced. Yard fees will be refunded in full.

E6c. If a veterinary certificate is produced refunds will be in full.

E6d. All prize winners in horse, cattle, sheep and boer goat sections are expected to join in the Grand Parade.

E6e. Equestrian Levies – entry fee includes RAS Levy of $1.15 per class.

E6f. All Livestock prize money will be directed credited after the show. Please include your name and bank account number on your Entry Form.

E6g. The Judges are empowered to withhold the prizemoney in any department in which there are not sufficient entries.

E6h. Competitors may not receive ribbon, cards or money unless they can produce their Height and Performance Card upon request in a height specific class.

E6i. All wins in novice and open classes within each division count and must be recorded on the Royal Agricultural Society Performance and Measuring Card. Winners failing to produce their card when requested by the Steward forfeit their awards for the day.

E6j. Class changes – same combination wishing to change classes incur a transfer fee of $2 per class. An upgrade will not incur any fee apart from any difference in entry fee. A scratching and entering on a new horse will incur a flat fee of $10. CLASS CHANGES CAN ONLY BE MADE UP TO 30 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE START OF THE CLASS

Clean SportE7a. Competitors are advised that tests for

forbidden substances may be carried out during the Show and that testing of all animals is at the owner’s risk. Forbidden substance – any substance capable of affecting the speed, stamina, courage or conduct of a horse, pony, donkey or mule by its action upon the central nervous system or the cardio-vascular, respiratory, alimentary, digestive, musculoskeletal or urogenital systems.

Championship Judging and Points PrizesE8a. Any pony qualifying for judging of Champion

must be ridden in that event by the same rider as in classes. In the event of injury or sickness, exception to the rule may be made at the discretion of the Ring Steward.

E8b. Points for Special Prizes in the aggregate: first 5, second 3, third 1, unless otherwise specified.

GROUND RULESE9a. Temporary Pens - pens constructed of electric

fence tape and electric fence standards are not permitted at affiliated shows.

E9b. Each exhibitor will be issued with 4 x 1-day passes. Additional tickets must be purchased prior to the show

E9c. All horses to be led by the head and in the charge of a competent person.

E9d. When horses or ponies are entered in more than one class and the starting times clash, the exhibitor must elect which class they will start the horse or pony in. The programme will not be held up for horses/ponies or riders competing in another ring. Horses or ponies arriving at the ring after the judging has commenced will not be judged.

E9e. Admission to the Showground: Adult 1 day pass ......................................... $17.50 Youth Pass (13-17) .......................................$5.00 12 and under .....................................................Free

E9f. Any person having been expelled from membership, or disqualified from exhibiting, riding or competing by any kindred association shall not be allowed to become a member, or to exhibit, ride or compete at this Society’s exhibitions, until such expulsion be rescinded or such disqualification be removed, provided such expulsion or disqualification be confirmed by the Executive of this Society.

E9g. Arrears: No person who is in arrears with regard to entry fees, subscriptions or any other Show charge is eligible to compete at any A & P Show. Proof of payment will be required before any restriction will be lifted.

E9h. Whips must not be over 76cm in length and with a suitable flapper, with the exception in First Ridden where the whip must not exceed 68cm including the flapper.

E9i. Please ensure that the yards are cleaned out after use and all rubbish put in the skips provided. Competitors leaving dirty yards will not be allocated yards the following year.

E9j All vehicles MUST display issued vehicle passes in the windscreen for the duration of the show.

E9k. It is an offence to carry any form of electronic equipment or audio attachment for the purpose of sideline communication by trainers.

E9l. Yard allocation: Due to the high demand the following criteria will apply

Those travelling long distances Those with multiple horses and staying 2

nights or more. Central Otago and Queenstown residents will

only be allocated yards if sufficient available Only horses/ponies entered will be allocated a

yardE9m. In no case may horses or ponies be ridden

outside the designated area. Pembroke Park carries a $100 fine if caught exercising out there.

E9n. There will be no measuring during the Show. Upper Clutha A&P cannot take any responsibility if a horse is not measured before the Show.

E9o. Only competitors who have horses entered may park their truck in the truck/float parking areas.

E9p. PLEASE use Gate # 3 entrance off Brownston St for parking on Pembroke Park & to access the parking at the yards use the gate off McDougall Street near the Camping Ground

E9q. No long-term camping permitted, maximum of 4 nights, camping application form must be filled out.

E9r. Summary of the RAS Resolution Process – the full process can be found on the RAS website www.ras.org.nz the principle behind the process is to deal with the manner as it comes to hand and in most cases it should be dealt with directly with the show. If the matter is in regard to a RAS official, the Show may request the assistance of the RAS Head Office as to how to deal with this in an appropriate manner.

E9s. Only competitors with maximum of one assistant per horse may enter the warm up area in front of the pavilion during competition.

E9t. Security staff will be on duty from Thursday 6pm-7am Friday; Friday 6pm - Saturday 7am: Saturday 6pm - Sunday 9am

E9u. No caravans nor camper vans ( unless it is towing the float) are permitted to park within the float parking area. Camping in tents is discouraged however if you stay within the total length of your vehicle +float (ie –camp to

the side and within the parking lines) it will be at the discretion of the Parking Marshal.

E9v. Parking for all floats and horse trucks is available on the grounds in the designated areas with marshals ensuring that parking is available for all Exhibitors. Parking is entirely at the vehicle owner’s risk. Any vehicles parked will be on the condition that the Wanaka A&P Society accepts no responsibility for any loss, theft, injury or damage to persons or vehicles, their contents, fittings.

E9w. The Wanaka A&P Society Committee reserves the right to remove any motor vehicle, float or caravan or any other form on trailer which is parked in any area or manner other than those prescribed by Wanaka A&P Committee without prior notice. ANY VEHICLE FOUND TO BE PARKED INSIDE THE SHOWGROUNDS WITHOUT AUTHORITY WILL BE REMOVED AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE.

PLEASE NOTE: Helmet Safety Standards - Compulsory from August 1st 2017 As of August 1st, 2017 the following safety standard numbers must be shown in your helmet and also showing a red tag. If your helmet has not been Red Tagged you will not be permitted to compete, however you will be able to get your helmet approved and tagged at the show.

All classes run under ESNZ rules. The committee reserves the right to alter the programme & prize money if necessary.

“By entering or attending this Show Jumping competition, you accept that you may appear within differing media streams that are on location covering the event. Your behaviour at the event and within the competition arena is at your discretion and is your responsibility.”

ESNZ REGISTRATIONS – per classClasses 14 & 18 Ponies Rider is required to either pay a Rider Introductory Membership $50 per year if you are doing 4 or more competitions.

OR Less than 4 –Rider pays Casual Membership ($15 per day)

PONY –no Equine Levy but there is the $5 Discipline Levy per show.

Classes 15 & 19 Horses Rider is required to either pay a Rider Introductory Membership $50 per year if you are doing 4 or more competitions.

OR Less than 4 –Rider pays Casual Membership ($15 per day).

HORSE – no Equine Levy but there is the $5 Discipline Levy per show.

Not eligible to enter Groups A, B, C, D or Lead Rein or any other section of the show. Riders under 10 years, age is determined as of August 1st. A First Ridden rider is only able to compete in the

First Ridden Section for a maximum of 24 months from the time of their first Show. This is the transition from the Lead Rein Class to open showing. Referring to the rider not the pony. Rider not eligible to enter any jumping event. To be ridden in a snaffle bridle with a caveson noseband, a snaffle bit and a single rein. Walk and trot in company and may be asked to canter in their individual workouts, with the exception of Class 158 where ALL riders must be able to canter.

Judging: 80% Conformation, 20% Paces & Manners. Judges to assess each horse individually with saddles removed after they have been assessed ridden. Horses to show true Thoroughbred qualities. Horses to show a good walk as well as gallop (room permitting). This class is part of an overall series and points are accumulated by the horse on their 1-4th placings. Features will be held at the NZ Royal A&P Show and HOY however normal points will apply for the series. The series will finish at HOY and a prize giving will be held at the completion of the RAS Livamol class at HOY. (For those shows that run after 2020 HOY – points will be taken through to the 2021 HOY prize giving). Overall winner will receive – trophy, V sash, Livamol product and RAS medal.
