4. Holes will be drilled using 20mm diameter drill-bit at angle of 45° - 60° to the horizontal from the concrete surface to intersect the plane of discontinuity. A free standing wooden template showing 60° will be used to guide driller. Please refer to Appendix 2.

3. Position of injection packers will be marked at a distance of 200rnm away from the joint at 300mm centre-to-centre (staggered spacing). Please refer to Appendix 1.

2. Dirt will be removed manually to expose the joint and determine extent of injection required.

1. Standing water in the drain will be constantly drawn down by electrical pump or vacuum cleaner to minimal level to facilitate injection works.

1.4.1 Preparation works prior to injection of RASCOflex

1.4 Method of RASCOflex Injection

a. RASCOflex AMO resin (material submittal no.: 25045-D 1000-1 O-CDD-C-066) b. SikaGrout 114 (material submittal no.: 25045-D2200-10-CDD-C-008)

The following materials will be used in the works.

Items Equipment Purpose 1. RASCOR Injection pump unit To inject RASCOflex Qel into the joints 2. RASCOR Injection packers To facilitate injection 3. Drill (c/w drill-bit) To drill holes for insertion of the injection

packers 4. Electrical Water Pump To dewater standing wafer in the drain 5. Scrapper I Hand Tools Clean and prepare the concrete surface 6. Concrete cutter Grooving of treated joints 7. Generator Set Power supply

1.3 Material and Equipment The following equipments are required to perform the works:

The method statement includes; cleaning and preparation of the concrete surfaces, drilling injection ports, injecting of RASCOflex methacrylamide dual component resin and sealing the joint surfaces with polymer modified repair mortar.

1.2 Scope of Application RASCOflex acrylic resin is proposed because of its application can be carried out against water pressure and suitable to be used in damp or wet substrate.

1.1 Objectives of The Method Statement To describe the sequence of operations associated with the injection of RASCOflex acrylic resin to seal water pathways in construction joints and expansion joints that are constantly wet.

2.1 Risk Assessment

Refer to Appendix 5.

8. Polythene sheet will be placed over the repair mortar and allow to cure for at least 7 days.

7. The groove will be make good with non-shrink concrete repair mortar SikaGrout 114. The repair mortar will be applied in accordance to manufacturer's technical data sheet attached in Appendix 4.

6. After the resin has fully polymerized, cut groove on concrete surface 30mm wide (15mm each side of the joint) along the joint with concrete cutter. Chip out concrete to form groove 20mm deep.

5. After retrieval of the injection packers, drill holes will be made good using SikaGrout 114.

4. Injection will be carried out between packer holes and flash polymerize the resin coming out of the joint surface with a gas torch. Risk assessment associate with the use of gas torch is incorporated in Appendix 5: 2. 1 Risk Assessment.

3. When water stops running from the joint then re-inject with RASCOflex AMO resin set to gelling time 180seconds or more at higher pressure to get the acrylic resin coming out from the joint surface.

2. The drilled holes will be injected with RASCOflex AMO resin set to gelling time of 60seconds. Gelling time is changed to suit water flow from the cracks. Gelling time is changed using Accelerator or Retarder added into the mix before injection. Gel time of the mixture will tested prior to injection.

1. RASCOflex AMO 2-component acrylic resin will be mixed and prepared in accordance to manufacturer's recommendations. Please refer to product's technical data sheet in Appendix 3. Special two component pump with products mixed at the head of the pump nozzle will be used. Therefore, mixing time and pot life is not applicable. Resin is injected into drill holes via special injection packers.

Safety notice Suitable protective clothing, gloves and goggles shall be worn. An eyewash bottle shall be kept at hand. Acrylamide is classed as toxic in its liquid state. It is essential that all relevant regulations be observed! The fully polymerized end product is neutral. For details inoformation, please consult the safety data sheet.

General Guideline Different mixing implements shall be used for the A- and B-components; these may only ever be used for the same component. Retarder and accelerator may only be added to the A-component. Accelerated material shall never be retarded and retarded material shall never be accelerated.

Application The A- and B-components are mixed in the ratio 1:1 (by volume). The A-component is supplied ready for use. To prepare the finished B-component from the 8-concentrate, approx. 5 litres of water are first poured into the mixing canister. The B powder is dissolved in the water by stirring or vigorous shaking. The 8-concentrate is then added to this solution. The mixing canister is subsequently filled up to the 25-litre mark with water and the contents very thoroughly mixed. Use of a drill with stirrer attachment is recommended. The ready-mixed B-component may be kept for 2 to 5 days, depending on the storage temperature.

Clean equipment and mixer immediately after application with water. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.

Cleaning

Treat exposed surfaces with Antisol-E Curing Compound or use other approved coring methods such as polyethylene sheeting or wet hessian.

Curing

Before pouring, however, let the mixed grout stand for approximately 5 minutes after mixing to allow entrapped air to escape. Pour into the prepared area such that the grout has the shortest distance to travel. Ensure that air displaced by the grout is allowed to escape. When carrying out base plate grouting, ensure a sufficient head of pressure is maintained to keep the mortar flowing. All exposed areas of the mortar surface should be kept as small as possible.

Application

Mix mechanically with a slow speed drill (max. 500 rpm) for at least 3 minutes and until a smooth, even consistency is achieved. Add water according to the desired consistency. For a flowable mix, 3.75 - 4.00 It. per 25 kg bag will be required.

Mixing

Substrate Concrete surfaces should be clean, sound and free from oil, grease, cement preparation laitance and all loosely adhering particles.

Absorbent surfaces should be saturated thoroughly. Metal surfaces (iron and steel) should be free from scale, rust, oil and grease.

Remarks Use SikaGrout for grouting only. -Ensure formwork is secure and watertight to prevent movement and leaking during placing and curing. -Where maximum thickness exceeds 75mm, consider the use of Sikacrete 114. -At high temperatures, use chilled water for mixing to keep the grout temperature below 30°C. -In hot weather, base plates and foundations must be shaded from direct sunlight. -Condition bags of grout (temperature below 30°C )prior to use -Depending on requirements and site condition, the addition of up to 100% of, dry, single size and clean aggregates is possible. Trials are recommended to confirm suitability of a~regates to be employed. For additional infonnation on SikaGrout -114 or other grouting materials contact our Technical Services Department.

Additional information on hand protection - No tests have been performed. Selection made for preparations according to the best available knowledge and information on the ingredients. Selection of materials derived from glove manufacturer's indications. Final selection of glove material must be made taking the breakthrough times, permeation rates and degradation into account. Selection of a suitable glove depends not only on the material but also on other quality characteristics and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. In the case of preparations the resistance of glove materials cannot be calculated in advance so it has to be tested before use. The exact breakthrough time of the glove material can be requested from the protective glove manufacturer and must be observed.
