ACTING AGAINST NOISE AND ACTING AGAINST NOISE AND VIBRATIONSVIBRATIONS
To respect the latest regulations
1 1 –– NOISE REGULATIONNOISE REGULATION
Noise Regulation: E.U. Directive 2003/10/CE applica tion 15/02/2006
Treshold 1 : 80 dBA - Identification of the workers c oncerned- Availability of individual protection- Information, training and medical surveillance
Treshold 2 : 85 dBA - Individual protections are comp ulsory - Noise reduction program is to be engaged- Signalization of places with noise level > 85dBA, information and training
Max. Limit : 87 dBA - Max. noise level after protect ion estimated according to EN ISO 4869-2 Standard

2 2 –– VIBRATION REGULATIONVIBRATION REGULATION
Vibration Regulation: E.U. Directive 2002/44/CE app lication 06/07/2006
Definition of an action treshold and of a limit of exposure for a worker.(Corresponding acceleration to 8 hours of exposition )
Action treshold : Evaluation and control of the risk for the health leading to a reduction of vibrations.
Limit treshold :Worker’s health preventive measuresMust be put in place.

3 3 -- TARGETSTARGETS
• Reduce the noise level in workshops
• Respect the regulations imposed by the health and safety organizations
• Reduce the maintenance costs on the machine tools and their equipments
• Increase the reliability and the life of toolings.
4 4 –– OUR PROPOSALOUR PROPOSAL
Propose solutions to reduce noise and vibrations
STRASONICSoundproofing materials
ANTIVIBRATIONMOUNTSElastomeric and all-metal
5 5 –– THE METHODTHE METHOD
Identify the noisiest and harshiest machines and most sensitive equipement in order to propose :
A – Solutions to reduce noise
B – Solutions to reduce vibrations
C – Solutions to protect sensitive equipments
A A –– Solutions toSolutions to reducereduce noisenoise
On site constat– Poor working conditions– Noise levels above legislation– Noise transmission to surrounding– Problems with neigborhoods
Corrective actionISOLATE the noisy machinery withantivibration mountings and acoustic enclosures equiped with efficient soundproofing materials
B B –– Solutions toSolutions to reducereduce vibrationsvibrations
On site constat– Ageing and wear of machines– Floor fixation failures– Floor cracks– Chassis cracks and distorsions– Vibration levels above legislation
Corrective actionISOLATE the machines with adapted PAULSTRA VIBRACHOC antivibration mountings
C C –– Solutions toSolutions to protect fromprotect from vibrationsvibrations
On site constat– Degradation of the electrical and
electronic equipement installed on the machines ( electronic control box, electrical switches boxes)
– Frequent interruption of process of the machineries
– Poor quality of measurements (weight, dimensions, flow rates…)
– Low manufacturing quality (bad surface finish, manufacturing tolerances not hold on high precision machine tools)
Corrective actionPROTECT the sensitive equipement from surrounding shocks and vibrations
3 – SEAL THE BOX
6 6 –– INSTALLATION ADVICESINSTALLATION ADVICES1 – CREATE A BOX(beware : a box without soundproofing is reverberant and will increase the noise level by 5 to 6 dB)
2 – SELECT SOUNDPROOFING
The highest the frequency is (above 200 Hz), the thinnest the soundproofing material
should be.The lowest the frequency is (below 500 Hz), the thickest the soundproofing material
should be.
4 – UNCOUPLE THE BOX FROM THE MACHINEBy installing antivibration mountings
5 – BE SMART, THINK TO THE END USER.The acoustic enclosure must be easy to manipulate and provide good access for maintenance.
