• Webinar on "The Interplay of Gender Identity, Societal Discrimination & Inadequate

Legislations: A Hinderance for the LGBTQ+ Community"

After coming across a confession of a student on one of the college confessions page which is run by students of the college. This student belongs to the LGBTQ community and felt that it is a taboo for the people in our college. This incident directed our attention towards this problem. Our college is a residential campus. All the students live inside the campus without an exception. In these circumstances if students inside the campus do not feel safe and scared of coming out, it would definitely harm them mentally and affect their performance academically also. With this perspective in mind, the cell found it as its prime responsibility to make everyone a part of this interaction through this webinar, aware them about the consequences that create fear in the minds of such people and how to come out of it. Date of event: 27th of June, 2020 Name of the speakers: Harish Iyer - He is an advocate for the LGBTQIA Community, children, women and survivors of child abuse. He was named one of the most influential gay men of the year by the guardian. Being part of the queer community

himself he was an excellent and pertinent choice for the webinar. He also advocates for mental health and has videos and a webinar relating to it Ms. Anjali Singla is a Therapist at the Banyan Academy and is a Mental Health adviser at MGMH & WHO.
