1. Getting to know your friends ( Ice breaking )
The children sit in a circle. Call a name and throw
the beanbag across the circle
. One child has the beanbag and calls hello to a child
across the circle, then throws the beanbag to them.
This child calls to a different person and throws the
beanbag and so on until all have had a turn.
Remind the children to call the name before they
throw and to throw sensibly to avoid accidents.

2. Introduce greetings
Shake hands around the circle
The children send a handshake around the circle andsay Good morning e.g. A and B shake hands and say,
Good morning B and Good morning A then B and Cshake hands and say, Good morning C and Goodmorning B.
Note: 1. Good morning can be replaced with good
evening, good night, thank you etc2. You can also add on to the sentence eg.
Good morning Ali. I am glad to see you.

3. Mathematical Greeting
This activity emphasises on mathematics .Every child in the circlethink of a number they like. The children send a handshake aroundthe circle and say Good morning followed by the number they havethought of earlier. e.g. A and B shake hands and A says, Goodmorning Im no. 2 and B says Good morning number 2 . I amnumber 6 then B and C shake hands and B says, Good morning I amnumber 6 and C answers Good morning 6. Iam number 3. Etc
Note: For more advanced students A can say Good morning I am 1
plus 3 (can be any two numbers) The next person (B) will reply Good
morning number 4 (1+3=4) Then B will greet C Good morning I am 2 +
1. C will answer Good morning number 3 etc.

During this circle time "who's missing" game, youngsters useobservation and memory skills.
� Materials: A Large sheet or blanket.
� Description: Teachers lay a large sheet on the floor. The group
of children sit around it. One child steps away from the groupand closes his / her eyes. The teacher taps a child and he /she gets under the "rug". The child that was away from thegroup with their eyes closed comes back. Now the rest of thechildren chant:
Bug in the rug, Bug in the rug.Who's that bug in the rug?
� The child has to guess who is under the rug by looking aroundto see who is missing. The child under the rug is then
revealed.

Theme Fruits
Children sit in a circle. They take turns to say what
fruit they like to eat e.g: I like to eat bananas. The
second child says, I like to eat rambutans.
Theme Clothes
Children sit in a circle. They take turns to say whatthey like to wear e.g: I like to wear a dress. The
second child says, I like to wear jeans. etc
