Town-Hall-Arts-Center-Youth- Theatre-Programs On-Camera Techniques Camera Skills Class, Grades 4-9 1:00 – 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday, July 21 – July 25 Instructor – Robert Michael Sanders Tuition: $150 In this week long class we will explore the differences between live theater and on-camera performance. We will focus on commercials and scenes from favorite movies. Every student will get a chance to learn how to perform for commercials, films, and sit-com style television shows. We will learn the terminology, different styles, discuss on-camera auditions and learn the basics of agents and booking. Every student will receive a complete DVD of the class projects for their files. Fairy Camp Crafts and Storytelling Class,Grades K-3 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, Monday – Friday, July 14 – July 18 Fairy Godmother – LuAnn Buckstein Tuition: $150 Are fairies real? They are in this weeklong camp. Discover your inner fairy. Build your own wand, wings, and fairy headband. Make a tiny fairy house with a miniature fairy to live inside. Meet other fairies and explore how your fairy moves through creative movement and dance. Discover your secret fairy name and any special powers your fairy possesses. The week will culminate with a presentation on Friday, where the “fairies” will welcome you into their special world. Presentation for friends and family July 18 at 12 pm. The Tempest Scene Study and Skills Camp, Grades 6-12 1:00 – 3:00 pm, Monday – Friday, July 28 – August 8 Directed by Shelly Bordas and Seth Maisel Tuition: $200 This two-week intensive is perfect for teens who are serious about theater. Using one of Shakespeare’s last and most loved plays, The Tempest, we will explore the fun of Shakespeare. No need to fear the language of The Bard – we will make understanding and presenting Shakespearian language easy and exciting. We will explore complicated text and advanced acting techniques while rehearsing selected scenes from this play that covers everything from deep drama to laugh-out-loud physical comedy. Directed by Robert Michael Sanders Tuition: $425 Set in Damon Runyon’s mythical New York City, Guys and Dolls Jr., introduces us to colorful characters and memorable musical numbers that have become legends of musical theater! This production, appropriate for all audiences, will be a fun challenge for teens interested in being part of a fully-produced musical. The original Guys and Dolls opened on Broadway in 1950 and won 5 Tony Awards, including Best Musical with such memorable numbers as “Luck Be a Lady” and “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat.” With a total of eight performances, this show will be an exciting taste of the professional theater that is perfect for experienced performers and beginners alike! The Big Bad Musical (A Howling Courtroom Comedy) Junior Play Production Camp, Grades 1-5 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, Monday – Friday, June 16 – July 11 No Rehearsals July 3 and 4. Performances Friday, July 11 and Saturday, July 12 at 6 pm Directed by LuAnn Buckstein and Robert Michael Sanders Tuition: $250 Welcome to the most exciting courtroom ever! The fairy tale world is rocked by the trial of the infamous Big Bad Wolf. Everybody wants to get even, including Red Riding Hood, shepherds, The Three Little Pigs, and even their grannies. Your favorite characters take the stage including arguments and commentary from Fairy Godmother and the Evil Stepmother. In the end, the jury (our audience!) will decide the outcome so each performance could be different. This hilarious musical is appropriate for actors and audiences of all ages. This class is recommended for advanced actors looking to challenge their skills, but any brave newcomers are welcome! Performance for friends and family will be on August 8 at 3 pm. Shel-a-Bration Theater Skills Class, Grades K - 4 10:00 am - 11:00 am, Monday - Friday, July 28 – August 1 Director TBA Tuition: $100 Spend a fun week diving into the works Of a writer who’s funny and has many quirks. “Where The Sidewalk Ends” and “A Light In The Attic” And more surprises for the Silverstein fanatic. Through interp, performance, and theatre sports We’ll explore his works! We call it “Shel’s Shorts”. On August 1st, this ride comes to an end With a final performance for family and friends.
