Environment and the Military: A Selected Bibliographywas compiled in anticipation of the emphasis the study of envi-ronmental issues will continue to receive as one of the U.S. ArmyWar College's AY94 curriculum's "special themes".

This listing of books, documents, videorecordings, andperiodical articles covers references to resources which dealspecifically with the military's commitment to preserving theearth's environment, as well as materials which address a broadrange of other contemporary environmental topics.

It has been tailored to include only those materialspublished within the last five years that are readily availablein the U.S. Army War College Library collection. For your conve-nience, we have added our library's call numbers at the end ofeach book entry (keep in mind that call numbers vary from libraryto library).

For additional information, please contact the compiler,Virginia Shope, Research and Information Services Branch, U.S.Army War College Library, DSN 242-3660 or Commercial (717) 245-3660.

Vision Statement: The Army will be a nationalleader in environmental and natural resourcesstewardship for present and future generations asan integral part of our mission.
