Goal and Objective

• coordinate ComSoc's efforts in various communications/networking issues related to Cloud Computing

• Several of ComSoc existing Technical Committees likely have an interest in this topic. Therefore, the members of this new committee will include volunteers from the appropriate/interested Technical Committees.

• Ad-hoc TC is working on issues related to Cloud Communications/Networking (including topics such as security, management, etc

Technical Scope under discussion• Network and Communication technology for better access to cloud computing

– Security and Privacy aspect– Reliability and availability

• Applying Cloud characteristics to Networks– Elasticity– On demand– Pay as you go– Multi-tenant – Flexibility of function allocations (e.g. access vs core vs …)

• Using cloud technologies for improving network and communication systems (e.g. energy efficiency)– Mobile cloud incl. devices, improved user experience– IoT– Move telco network infrastructure into the cloud– Add storage and computing into the network (elements)

• Software-defined Networking

Technical Scope under discussion (2)

• Distributed Cloud Storage/Information-centric Networking

• Datacenter Networking• Converged/Integrated Computing and

Communication Management– Joint resource management (compute, storage,

communication)• Network Virtualization (in a broader sense)
