Modbus is the main network protocol for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System used in power plants. Most equipments, including meters, inverters, and power loggers support Modbus as their preferred communication standard. The energy management system usually monitors the equipment in a power plant. Modbus is inevitably the foremost interface between the equipment and the energy management system.

With a built-in Modbus/RTU protocol, the Advantech ADAM-4000 Modbus I/O series is especially suitable for power plants. It is an easy integration and cost-effective remote I/O solution for Power SCADA system.

In order to fulfill the requirements in the environmental monitoring field, Advantech is proud to release the ADAM-4000 remote Modbus I/O series. The new ADAM-4000 series consists of analog input/output, digital input/output, and relay modules for a variety of environmental data acquisition and control applications, such as river, dam, landscape, pipeline, bridge and so on. Based on the RS-485 network interface, the ADAM-4000 supports both ADAM ASCII and Modbus/RTU protocol. This feature will instantly setup hardware connection and integrate ADAM-4000 modules with any HMI SCADA software that supports Modbus driver.
