DEPARTMENT: Title and RightsPOSITION/TITLE: AssistantPAY SCALE: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
Job Summary
This position will report to the Title and Rigiits Coordinator,the Assistant will maintain and assist with thecollection, collationand database entry ofexisting cultural information in the Title and Rights Department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Adams Lake Indian Band policies andprocedures;
• Ability to collect information from otl^er museums and archives;• Assist with database entry ofall collected and existing cultural information;• Maintain collected information;• Receives, distributes and maintains a record ofall correspondence;• Creates, maintainsand updates filing system as needed;• Typesand receives allcorrespondence related to theTitle and Rights Department;
-'••:• Develop amajor projects referral tracking system;• Provides clerical/secretarial supportto the Title andRights Department as well as orderssupplies;• Performsother duties, as required;
Bonafide Occupational Requirements (required documents)I • Current and acceptable Criminal Record Check(original required)
• Grade 12or equivalent (copy required)Knowledge/Skins
• Possess strong research skills;• Mustbe ableto type 60 wordsperminute accurately;• Ability totranscribe interviews onto an acceptableformatquickly and accurately;• Familiarity with scanning equipment is a must; '• Familiarity withsoftware thatcan transfer from Tape todigital;• Diplomacy, tact and confidentiality in dealing with avariety ofpeople and information;• Flexibility is a mustto adapt to changing >vork priorities;• Ability tomaintain ahigh level of accuracy inpreparing and entering information;• Knowledge ofSecweipemc Traditional uses and an ability to worjtyrtth elders;• Possess strong computer skiUa Vising Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook andPowerPoJnt;.• Attend any relevant framingthat pertains tothe Title and Rights Department;(withapproval)'.• Knowledge ofGIS/Mapphig,an asset;

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERSWHO? 20 Elders, Knowledge Keepers and Community
Members from Secwepemc communities.
WHAT? To volunteer and assist with the First Nations
Court and other community justice initiatives.Please submit an Expression of Interest(explaining your interest and/or backgroundexperience with the criminal justice system and/orthe court system) with a Letter of Support fromyour community, agency or Band Council.
WHY? To help First Nations people in conflict with thelaw by providing mentorship, support andguidance. Also, to ensure balanced decisions inthe First Nations Court, through traditions andcustoms.
WHERE? 8 training sessions will be held in Chase andKamloops (starting January, ending March, 2013).
