ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

कः कालः कान माण को देशः कौ यागमौ ।काहं का च मे शरत चयं मुमुः ॥

“Consider again and again the following: the right time, the right friends, the rightplace, the right means of income, the right ways of spending, and from whom youderive your power.” The holy wisdom shared by one of the eminent economists andthe writer of Arthashastra “Kautilya” has given such an impressive viewpointregarding how one should take a careful approach in spending their valuable assets“Arth”. For one doesn’t know what may be the result of any fallacy. During thecourse of economic transactions, there comes a sheer point during which anyindividual/company is unable to pay off any debts. The same results in poor cashflow, and there is a chance of the defaulter getting pushed into a trap. So to get out ofit, they seek to file for bankruptcy. There have been legal provisions to deal with theresolution and bankruptcy process, but the process itself was very tiresome andhectic. So to deal with this issue, a remarkable decision was taken, and the“Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code” was passed by the Parliament in November2016.

This workshop aims at spreading awareness regarding the newly passed legislationto companies and individuals. It also aims at breaking the stereotype of the negativenotion of the term “Bankruptcy” and will familiarize the people regarding the “easedprocess” that the newly found code has introduced for the same and how the “newnormal” imposed by the “Covid-19” pandemic has introduced new challenges intothe whole process.
