The Spirit is Moving! The month of May is always busy with graduations and gatherings. In the life of the faithful, it is also a time of sacramental encounters in the Holy Spirit. This year is no exception. We had a fantastic and beautiful First Communion liturgy this past Sunday, with 25-second graders receiving the Eucharist for the first time. The faith and sincerity of the children is something to behold and to imitate. We also had a wonderful overnight retreat with our confirmation candidates. The highlight of the retreat was nocturnal adoration with the Blessed Sacrament, where all those present individually went up to the Lord’s presence and spoke of their needs to Him. Letters were surprisingly received from parents and sponsors and were read in private. We had a wonderful Franciscan priest who gave talks, as well as our own parish team to lead discussions and icebreakers. The class also met last Sunday evening for a practice with their sponsors and share a buffet dinner provided by the ninth grade families, as has been our tradition over the last years. In a special way, I want to thank Scott Johnson for his outstanding and dedicated work as our Director of Religious Education this past year. His dedication, organization and humble manner have been a blessing to our parish family – thank you! Lynn Bamford continues her work with our Capital Campaign. Remittances went out this past week for those that made pledges. Thanks to those who continue to make new gifts or pledges. We are keeping the campaign open as some families remain discerning on what they will do to help. The Catholic Charity Drive is also underway. I know it is a lot all at once, but so there are so many needs for people in our diocese. Thank you for your amazing generosity and stewardship. Let us ask the Holy Spirit to fill the hearts of our young people this Sunday and that of Bishop Gruss, who joins us from South Dakota. A special greeting and blessing to all mothers among us this week and those that are asleep in the Lord. We appreciate all you do!
Fr. Taillon

Brendan will be ordained a priest next June.
Our confirmation candidates attend an overnight retreat at Camp Hazen in Chester Ct. this past week as part of their final preparation. Fr. Sean Patrick from the Franciscans of the Primative Observance gave talks in addition to our own team members. The group is seen doing icebreakers and reading letters support from their parents and sponsors at Eucharistic adoration. Pray for them this Sunday!

Waiting on the Spirit Having received Jesus' final instructions, and having watched him taken to heaven, his disciples were also told to wait. Jesus had promised that they would soon be baptized by the Holy Spirit (at Pentecost), but now they must wait and prepare themselves. Together with the ultimate wait for the return of Jesus, they also needed to learn to wait in small ways. They waited for the Spirit to empower and to guide them. Waiting is often difficult for us, the Church. We tend to move quickly, to want to take action. Sometimes we conclude that we have good ideas and plans that will make a positive difference, and so must now act. But our good ideas are not necessarily God's ideas for us at this particular time. Often, we need to slow down, perhaps place our plans before God, and wait on the Spirit. At these times, we are learning that this is primarily God's work, not ours. We always must receive from God, and be sustained by God, in order to share God with others.
