Adjective Clauses Adjective Clauses are introduced by the
following words (relative pronouns): who, whose, which, someone, somebody, etc.
Examples: I have a friend who collects Coca-Cola bottles. (The clause who collects Coca-Cola bottles identifies the
friend)
I know the man whose bicycle was stolen.
Adjective Clauses with Subject Relative PronounsUSE (relative pronouns):
WHO- to refer to people
WHICH- refer to places or things
WHOSE + noun- show possession or relationship
Adjective Clauses with Subject Relative PronounsUSE (relative pronouns): Relative pronouns have the same form
whether they refer to singular or plural nouns.
That’s the man who lives across the road. That’s the woman who lives across the
road. Those are the people who live across the
road.
Adjective Clauses with Subject Relative Pronouns Using a comma may have different
meaning in the sentence. Compare:
My sister, who lives in Sabah, came to visit me this year
My sister who lives in Sabah came to visit me this year.
(I have several sisters. This one lives in Sabah)
