QUEEN MARGARET HOSPITAL, DUNFERMLINE PLANNED CARE DIRECTORATE – DAY SURGERY UNITSENIOR CHARGE NURSE REF NO: HH794/02/18EBLSALARY: £32,013 - £42,205 BAND 7 - HOURS: 37.5 An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Day Surgery Unit at Queen Margaret Hospital for a Senior Charge Nurse. The Senior Charge Nurse has overall continuing responsibility for the efficient and safe management of this busy Day Surgery Unit.
The Unit sits within the Planned Care Directorate and is responsible for providing Day Surgery and 23 hour stay services, as well as diagnostic tests, treatments, and pre-assessment for patients.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced nurse to develop to the next stage of their career progression. We are looking to recruit a driven individual who has significant post registration experience and a track record in leadership and change management.
You will be part of and lead an established team of nursing and administrative staff who work closely together to provide an efficient and safe pathway for patients undergoing day surgery and 23 hour stay surgery in the Queen Margaret Hospital.

We are seeking an experienced nurse who will embrace the challenge of this dynamic and exciting role. You will be an expert clinical practitioner responsible for providing advanced clinical assessment of the surgical patient; enhancing care and improving patient flow in conjunction with national standards.
You will work as part of a team of two Advanced Nurse Practitioners and be responsible for performing clinical assessment of deteriorating patients and apply clinical expertise to diagnose and initiate appropriate investigations and treatment. You will work collaboratively with the designated ward teams as well as the on-call team as well as others to deliver safe, effective, person centred care.
You will work across professional and organisational boundaries in partnership with others including acute and primary care nursing and medical staff, allied health professionals and senior management teams. You should possess the leadership skills to prioritise demanding workloads and be responsive in a challenging clinical environment.You should be able to demonstrate an ongoing and self-motivated commitment to continued professional development.
You must possess an Advanced Clinical Examination qualification and preferably the Non Medical Prescribing course – or evidence of working towards this.
You must be in possession of a minimum of a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Practice. Possession of a Masters qualification or a willingness to work towards is desirable; however, the ability to demonstrate Masters level thinking is essential. You will be required to rotate into the surgical admissions ward as required to meet the demands of the service.

This is an exciting development for the role of the Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) within Primary Care Emergency Services (PCES) as part of the National Out of Hours Review.
As an Advanced Nurse Practitioner you will apply high levels of decision making to assess and treat paediatric and adult patients presenting in Fife Primary Care Emergency Services (PCES). As part of the senior clinical team you will ensure patient health needs are met through the autonomous provision of diagnosis and the management of patient conditions through assessment, treatment, and review planning process. This will be facilitated in partnership with patients, carers and families. This role involves providing specialist advice and education to healthcare professionals, other agencies, carers, clients and relatives. Within this role you will also be required to work collaboratively across healthcare boundaries to develop the service to improve practice, implementing and evaluating evidence based standards, guidelines and policy.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop nursing practice within community based urgent care. As a Registered General Nurse with substantial post registration experience, you will be educated or prepared to work towards MSc level in an Advanced Nurse Practitioner Qualification and Independent Nurse Prescriber qualification and have completed or be prepared to complete the Acute Illness Course. You will also have experience supporting the professional development of others including teaching, clinical supervision and the application of research and audit underpinned by a strong knowledge of current Urgent Care issues. Excellent professional leadership, team working, advanced clinical assessment and decision making skills are all key to this role. You will be flexible to the needs of the role and service and will support the lead nurse in developing the service to assure safe, patient centred and effective care delivery applying the 4 pillars of practice at an advanced level.To meet the needs of Primary Care Emergency Services hours will include a range of shift patterns which include, evenings, nights, weekends, day-time and public holidays. Travel across Fife will be required with PCES centres at Queen Margaret, Victoria, Glenrothes and St Andrews Community Hospital.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a prescribing support nurse with experience in delivering care to patients over a range of long term conditions to join the prescribing support team in helping to improve the safety, quality and cost-effectiveness of prescribing within NHS Fife.
Under the direction of the lead pharmacists, you will engage with GP practices, care homes, clinics and wards to improve prescribing, maximise prescribing efficiencies and improve adherence to clinical guidelines and formulary in your specialist area.
This may involve review of patients’ medication to provide expert opinion on best treatment; set-up of bespoke clinics to review these patients (in addition to practices’ regular clinic provision); peer support and education to practice nurses to develop their own clinics.
An excellent relationship has been established with the Managed Clinical Network (MCN) leads and nurse managers and they will continue to provide professional input and direction to your role, and you likewise will be expected to support the work of the MCN at times, e.g. through meeting attendance, providing educational support.
We are looking for nurses with in-depth knowledge over a range of long term conditions eg respiratory, diabetes, chronic pain and mental health. You will have experience in a patient facing role in primary care or hospital and have the ability to influence prescribing to ensure that patients receive the optimal treatment for their condition, in line with local and national guidelines.
You should have good interpersonal skills and be able to work with a range of people including patients, fellow nurses, GPs, practice managers, practice pharmacists and MCN managers/leads.
The posts are Fife-wide and the ability to travel throughout Fife is essential.

An opportunity has arisen for suitably experienced Mental Health Nurses to join the Band 6 Charge Nurses in the Unscheduled Care Assessment Team (UCAT) based at Whyteman’s Brae Hospital.
UCAT provide, in collaboration with medical staff colleagues, a response to all episodes of unscheduled mental health care in Fife. This is a 24 hour, 7 days a week service. The Team also supply Charge Nurse support to the Acute Ward at Whyteman’s Brae, out of hours.
Candidates are required to have considerable experience as a Staff Nurse in an appropriate mental health setting.

The Victoria Maternity Unit in Kirkcaldy, Fife is in a position to offer Staff Midwife posts, either band 5 or band 6 throughout the inpatient maternity unit, community and antenatal clinic settings. These vacancies will be permanent and are rotational throughout every area of the maternity unit, with various hours to be offered. You will also be considered to join our midwifery bank. You must be a NMC Registered Midwife or working towards registration, all levels of experience will be considered. You should possess excellent team working skills with effective communication and time management skills also. For a community midwife position you must be interested in caring for women and their families in the community and commit to an on call home birth service. The unit was opened in January 2012, and as well as the outpatient and community settings has a high risk Consultant Unit and a low risk Midwife Led Unit, with approx 3500 births per year. An opportunity has arisen to join an enthusiastic, motivated and supportive team of 11 Consultant Emergency Physicians (9.85 WTE). The role is based in the Emergency Department at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, which opened in 2012. The department has an annual attendance of 65,000.
The appointee will be responsible for the reception, resuscitation, diagnosis and initial treatment of all emergencies. They will make arrangements for patients to be admitted into hospital beds, special units or other hospitals, to outpatients or back to the community. They will be expected to participate actively in the clinical workload of the Department, undertaking direct management and assessment of patients. During Departmental sessions, the appointee will need to be aware of the junior doctors’ workload and to take action to ensure that excess hours are not worked. They will use their Sports and Exercise Medicine expertise to support staff in the department in the management of musculoskeletal injury assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing education. Other areas of the appointee’s expertise - for example in topics like concussion will also be utilised in ongoing education and training of staff.
As an EM consultant group we believe strongly in providing a sustainable work/life balance. A PA is included for each on call. Clinical administration time has been factored in as per RCEM guidance. There is a 24 hour middle grade rota with no gaps.
We perform well in key areas such as sepsis, stroke thrombolysis and compliance with the 4 hour target. We have an excellent relationship and collaborate closely with all in-patient teams. As a department we are committed to teaching and providing a positive experience of EM to our junior doctors. Our trainees rate their experiences in Fife highly and this is recognised regionally and in GMC surveys.

We are looking to welcome up to new 6 new colleagues to join an enthusiastic, motivated and supportive Emergency Department team. You will work in the Emergency Department at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, which opened in 2012. The department has an annual attendance of 65000.
The department includes an 8 bay resuscitation area, a 9 bay majors area, a 6 bay minors area and 2 paediatric consulting rooms. There is a dedicated Procedures room and a 6 bedded Emergency Medicine Observation Unit which admits primarily toxicology and head injury patients. There is access to electronic pathology and radiology ordering. Departmental guidelines, protocols and rotas are on the departmental intranet web pages. We perform well in key areas such as sepsis, stroke thrombolysis and compliance with the 4 hour target.
The Emergency Department has 24 hour senior doctor presence, (11 Consultant Emergency physicians 9.85 WTE) with current shop floor consultant presence daily from 0800 to 2300. We have 4 GPwSI who deliver regular sessions in evenings and at weekends. There are daily ENP sessions to help with the minors flow.
There is a co-located GP OOH service in the evenings and at weekends, allowing redirection of appropriate patients. A formal redirection policy is in operation.
There is a 24 hour ENP-led Minor Injuries Unit Located at Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline which is clinically supported by the senior doctors in the Emergency Department.

These now well established posts support the provision of high quality patient care within the Emergency Department. It is aimed at post Foundation Year trainees who wish to broaden their clinical experience and receive excellent training in the assessment and management of the undifferentiated patient and for the postholder to develop their training and portfolio.
These posts will be appointed to for 1 year During this period, you will work for four months as an additional member of the junior tier (maximum 48 hours per week), with shop floor teaching focusing on prioritisation of workload, formulation of investigation and management plans. There will be scheduled time spent at Virtual Fracture Clinic vetting, knee clinic, and assisting on the observation ward with patient review under consultant supervision. There will be opportunities for additional experience in other specialties such as ophthalmology and ENT. It is expected that successful candidates will complete any outstanding life support courses not yet done (ie APLS/ATLS), and Study Leave time will be given for this.
In addition, one month will be spent as a supernumerary trainee (maximum 40 hours per week) in anaesthesia gaining skills in basic airway assessment and management. One month will be spent on the junior rota in Paediatrics (maximum 40 hours per week) gaining and developing skills in assessment and management of paediatric patients including venepuncture and cannulation.
The second six months will involve working on the middle grade rota. You will have allocated CPD time of 8 hours per week. There will be the option to use these CPD sessions to allow a period of secondment to another specialty within NHS Fife.
Successful applicants will be encouraged to take part in departmental audit and in delivery of teaching sessions to junior colleagues and nursing staff with consultant support. Previous postholders have presented their CPD/audits at national conferences and have been successful in obtaining posts in ACCS EM training. You will be expected to maintain an e-portfolio and undertake regular appraisal. Each clinical development fellow will be allocated a consultant educational supervisor to support their clinical and professional development.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Practice Business Manager at the Lomond Practice. We are looking for a Practice Business Manager (37.5 hours per week) whocan combine business skills with a hands-on attitude to operationalmanagement and patient care. Previous experience of working in a leadership & management capacity within Primary Care is desirable – preferably in GP practice management.You should be a self motivated, proactive, innovative person with excellent organisational skills and proven ability in finance, HR and IT. You should have the vision, willingness and drive to adapt to constant changes within the NHS but you will be supported by an excellent administrative and clinical team. We are friendly GP Training practice with 10300 patients over 2 sites in Glenrothes and Cardenden. The main branch is based in Glenrothes and the branch practice is located in Cardenden. The practice has a reputation for excellent patient care and being forward thinking and innovative. The Lomond Practice has 3 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GP’s, 4 Advanced nurse practitioners, 2 Practice nurses, a Practice clinical pharmacy team and 2 treatment room nurses provided by the Health Board. We are looking for an experienced Treatment Room Nurse to join our friendly and supportive Nursing Team to work in our Inverkeithing and Dalgety Bay Surgeries.
The ideal candidate should have experience in treatment room tasks including wound management, venepuncture, immunisations, travel vaccinations and cervical cytology.
In addition, good communication, computer and organisational skills are essential for this post.

Bellyeoman Surgery is seeking a highly motivated part-time Practice Nurse to complement our nursing team. You will be part of a team of 3 Practice Nurses. You must possess core practice nursing skills (treatment room). An interest in chronic disease management, in particular asthma and COPD would be preferable but not essential. Experience working within General Practice is advantageous however candidates from suitably experienced backgrounds may be considered. It is not expected that all candidates will have all the required skill sets as training can be provided. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
