This is the assessment task for the assignment Component of National 5 Administration and IT Course assessment. It must be read in conjunction with the general assessment information for this Component of Course assessment.

Instructions for candidates This assessment applies to the assignment for National 5 Administration and IT.
This assignment has 70 marks out of a total of 120 marks available for the course assessment. It assesses the following skills, knowledge and understanding:
using advanced IT functions in word-processing/desktop publishing and presentations to produce and process information
using technology for investigation
using technology for electronic communication
problem-solving
administration theory
Your teacher or lecturer will let you know how the assessment will be carried out and any
required conditions for doing it.
In this assessment, you have to work through a series of tasks:
which assess the skills and theory listed above
within 3 hours (excluding printing time)
in a maximum of 2 sittings – where additional printing time is required, this should be completed immediately after each sitting
This is a closed book assessment. However, you can use the internet when specifically instructed to do so. The following electronic files are provided for you to use during the assignment:

Assignment Task
Elysium Spa and Health Club has recently opened in Troon. Facilities will include a gym, spa, swimming pool, studios and personal trainers, with timetabled classes available to all members. A Launch Evening will take place on Thursday 5 April 2018 from 6-9 pm. You have just started your new job as an Admin Assistant. You will be reporting to Ms Audrey Lauder, the General Manager of Elysium Spa and Health Club. You must:
complete each task in order
action and then delete all comments within files
display your name and task number on each printout
ensure the e-mail printout shows evidence of sending

Task 1
Audrey would like to see a copy of the Presentation to be shown at the Launch Evening. Update the file Launch Evening following the instructions below. Print full page slides of the last 3 slides only.

Complete and print the file Corporate Image which will be discussed at the staff
briefing before the Launch Evening.
Design and print a Personal Training Form that will be given to new members. Use
shading where appropriate. The form will be completed manually and must fit on one
page. The form should include the following information.

Audrey has a few appointments in different locations on the day of the Launch Evening. Enter the following appointments in her e-diary for that day, including the locations.
Print the diary in daily view.
Access the internet to find the following information. Print evidence from websites showing train details, lunch venue, walking directions and a suitable hotel.

Update Audrey’s e-diary for the day of the Launch Evening. Set a 30-minute reminder for the appointment below. Print evidence of the reminder showing the time and
location of the lunch.
Complete and print the file Admin Assistant.
I have started to create a newsletter. Update and print the file Launch Evening Newsletter on one page. Use your updated file Studio Timetable, the files contained in the folder Trainers and the information below. Print a copy of the completed newsletter.

Membership cards will be given to all members who join Elysium Spa and Health Club. Use the file Elysium and mail merge to produce the membership cards. Display Member Name, Member ID and Member Type. Print one copy showing merged fields and one copy of a merged membership card.

Create a poster to advertise the Launch Evening. Include a variety of fonts, text formats, graphics and a page border. Print a copy of the poster on one page.
