Agustin, Deacon Dong, Sister Francesca, Mrs. Alvarado, Staff and Faculty, we would like to express our deepest appreciation to all of you, especially our benefactors, ministry leaders, choirs, art and environment team, and volunteers of our parish, for your countless dedications in service to our Lord and the Church so that we could have wonderful Christmas and New Year celebrations. Now, as we return liturgically to Ordinary time, I hope that you will use this time to thank Almighty God for your life, your families, and friends. As the Holy Year of Mercy has begun, please use this time wisely to carry out the intentions of our Pope Francis to be merciful to those around you, especially to our family members. Please invite yourself to follow every week the Year of Mercy selections as below. May the New Year bring all of you peace, love, joy, and prosperity! Message of His Holiness Pope Francis For The Celebration Of The XLIX World Day Of Peace - 1 January 2016

For the Church, 2015 was a special year, since it marked the fiftieth anniversary of two documents of the Second Vatican Council which eloquently expressed her sense of solidarity with the world. Pope John XXIII, at the beginning of the Council, wanted to open wide the windows of the Church and to improve her communication with the world. The two documents, Nostra Aetate and Gaudium et Spes, are emblematic of the new relationship of dialogue, solidarity and accompaniment which the Church sought to awaken within the human family. In the Declaration Nostra Aetate, the Church expressed her openness to dialogue with non-Christian religions. In the Pastoral Constitution Gaudium et Spes, based on a recognition that “the joys and hopes, the grief and an-guish of the people of our time, especially of those who are poor or afflicted, are the joys and hopes, the grief and anguish of the fol-lowers of Christ as well”, [1] the Church proposed to enter into dialogue with the entire human family about the problems of our world, as a sign of solidarity, respect and affection. [2] Along these same lines, with the present Jubilee of Mercy I want to invite the Church to pray and work so that every Christian will have a humble and compassionate heart, one capable of proclaiming and witnessing to mercy. It is my hope that all of us will learn to “forgive and give”, to become more open “to those living on the outermost fringes of society-fringes which modern society itself creates”, and to refuse to fall into “a humiliating indifference or a monotonous routine which prevents us from discovering what is new! Let us ward off destructive cynicism!” [3]

Una vez más, junto con el Padre Agustín y Padre Wayne, queremos expresar nuestro más profundo agradecimiento a todos ustedes, las organizaciones, los coros y grupos de nuestra parroquia que han dedicado su servicio a nuestra Iglesia para que podamos tener una maravilloso a celebración de la Navidad. Ahora volvemos a nuestro tiempo ordinario, espero que ustedes utilicen esta época del año para dar gracias a Dios Todopoderoso por su vida, sus familias y amigos. Quiero recordarles que este año es el año de la Misericordia. Jesús, La Misericordia y Las Parábolas

¿Por qué en parábolas? ¿Por qué hablar de la misericordia en parábolas y no mediante otros instrumentos de comunicación? ¿Y por que tantas parábolas sobre la misericordia? ¿No basta con la parábola del hijo prodigo o, como se prefiere llamarla hoy, “del padre misericordioso”? Al elogio de la caridad y de la sabiduría se podía añadir el de la misericordia. Pensándolo bien, se es necesario ser misericordiosos como (y porque) lo es el Padre, entonces es imposible hablar de la misericordia separándola de las personas que la viven o la ignoran. Si Jesús prefiere narrar la misericordia que definirla, tendrá sus razones, las cuales trataremos de esclarecer. El espejo de la vida Las parábolas de Jesús, incluidas las de la misericordia, están conectadas con la vida y la interpretan. Seria equivocado pensar que luego de haber leído una de las parábolas es necesario interpretarla. Al contrario, ¡se necesita que las parábolas interpreten la vida de cada uno y la cuestionen! La parábola de los dos deudores y el acreedor (Lc 7, 41-43) surge en una situación embarazosa en casa de Simon, el fariseo: Jesús se deja lavar y besar los pies por una pecadora. La parábola ilustra que el deudor al cual se le ha perdonado la mayor deuda de dinero esta mas agradecido con el acreedor que el otro, a quien se le condono una cantidad menor. Si la pecadora le lava los pies a Jesús es porque El le ha perdonado su pecado, y no es que el pecado le haya sido perdonado porque le ha lavado los pies. Las tres parábolas de la Misericordia por excelencia (Lc 15, 1-32) parten del hecho de que Jesús come con los pecadores; aclaran este hecho y obligan a quienes lo critican a cuestionar sus juicios. La presunción de quien cree que se es exaltado ante Dios porque se es exaltado en el mundo (Lc 16, 15) ofrece la ocasión para la parábola del rico y el pobre Lázaro. La parábola del juez y la viuda insistente (Lc 18, 2-8) explica la importancia de la oración, es decir: si se es constante se puede cambiar incluso el corazón de Dios. La parábola del fariseo y el cobrador de impuestos en el templo (Lc 18, 10-14) nace de la presunción de algunos que desprecian a los otros para engrandecerse. En las parábolas de Jesús se refleja la vida real: la de su relación con Dios y con los pecadores. Por esto los personajes de las parábolas son anónimos y los ambientes en que se mueven están desenfocados. Cualquier oyente esta involucrado en las parábolas de Jesús y se refleja en ellas con una franca verdad que lo obliga a cuestionarse a si mismo en las relaciones que lleva cada día.

Ask for a Leadership Packet in the Main office, or visit www.412beanexample.org/leader to learn more. ABLAZE Junior High Ministry, meeting Monday nights, from 7 - 8:30 pm in the Kuper Center. All Junior High School students are welcome and en-couraged to attend. Led by some of our best and brightest 4:12 Leaders, this is a great place to be as a 6th – 8th grader. “Teens and Topics” meets the 1st and 3rd Wednes-day, from 7 - 8:30 pm in the Kuper Center. We will resume TNT in February, 2016. Led by 4:12 Leaders, and in the comfortable environment of the Kuper Center, it’s a chance for the strong Youth of 4:12 to build community and minister to each other. All High School students are welcome, and all Confirmation candidates are required to attend at least one meeting throughout the school year. Our next TNT is Feb. 4, 2016.

“Teen Scripture Study” is new this year!! Meeting the 2nd and 4th Wednesday, from 7 - 8:30 pm in the Kuper Center. We will resume this in February, 2016.

Led by Director Tim Reid, with the help of the 4:12 Leadership, this is a new addition to the Ministry this year. All High School students are welcome, and all Confirmation candidates are required to attend at least one meeting. Our next meeting will be Feb. 11, 2016. The parish has Sunday Child Care Service every Sunday, in K-Extension room (School Area), begin-ning at 8:45 am and ending at 12:15 pm for all parents and grandparents who go to the 9:00 & 11:00 am Masses. Children’s Liturgy at 11:00 am Mass Ages: K - 5th Grade

Each Sunday Mass at 11:00 am, right after the Opening Prayer and before the 1st Reading, all chil-dren from K to 5th Grade are invited to stand up and go out to Modular Room 1 for their own shar-ing the Word of God. After the homily, during the collection, the children will return to the Church to continue the Mass.

Lá Thư Cha Quản Xứ Mến chào quý ông bà và anh chị em trong Chúa Kitô,

Chúng ta vừa chấm dứt mùa Giáng Sinh. Một lần nữa, cùng với cha Wayne, cha Agustin, thầy sáu Đông, sơ Tươi, và cô hiệu trưởng Mary, chúng tôi xin chân thành tri ân Ban Thường Vụ, Hội Đồng Mục Vụ, quý Hội đoàn Ban nghành Đoàn thể, ban Ca đoàn, ban Lễ sinh và quý ân nhân đã hy đóng góp công sức và hiện kim cho cộng đoàn giáo xứ trong những ngày qua để tất cả chúng ta có một Đại Lễ Giáng Sinh diễn tiến thật bình an và tốt đẹp trong thánh ý Chúa. Chỉ còn 1 tháng nữa chúng ta lại mừng Tết Bính Thân (8 tháng 2), mong rằng chúng ta dùng dịp đầu năm mới này để cầu xin Chúa Xuân ban cho mỗi người chúng ta sức khỏe, may mắn, và nhiều niềm vui trong năm mới. Chúng ta cũng hãy tiếp tục sống Năm Thánh Từ Bi bằng nhiều cách, cụ thể năng tham dự thánh lễ, cầu nguyện theo ý Ðức Giáo Hoàng Phanxicô và bình an cho thế giới. Xin Chúa Xuân ban cho toàn thể quý ông bà và anh chị em an khang, may mắn, dạt dào ân sủng, và tràn đầy hạnh phúc.

Chúa Nhật Lễ Chúa Giêsu Chịu Phép Rửa đã chấm dứt mùa Giáng Sinh. Việc Chúa Giêsu chịu Phép Rửa nhắc nhở chúng ta rằng mình là: con cái của Thiên Chúa, anh chị em của Chúa Giêsu, phần tử của Giáo Hội thừa hưởng phúc lộc quê trời, và đền thờ của Chúa Thánh Thần. Và còn nhắc nhở chúng ta hãy loan truyền cảm nghiệm sự hiện diện của Thiên Chúa trong cuộc sống mỗi người chúng ta và hãy phục vụ Ngài trong tinh thần yêu thương và khiêm hạ. Chúng ta hãy cố gắng sống đời sống thánh thiện, hãy làm cho tâm hồn chúng ta là đền thờ của Chúa Thánh Thần, và hãy đem nhiều người trở về với giáo hội của Chúa. Mong lắm thay.

Điều kiện để lãnh ơn toàn xá trong Năm Thánh Từ Bi ...tiếp theo tuần trước… Để được lãnh ơn toàn xá, chúng ta phải xưng tội (nếu cần), tham dự thánh lễ và rước lễ, cầu nguyện theo ý Đức Giáo Hoàng và đi viếng nhà thờ được chỉ định mỗi ngày hay mỗi khi có thể. Phải làm các việc này trong một ngày. Mỗi ngày làm thì mỗi ngày lãnh được một ơn toàn xá. Mỗi lần làm thì mỗi lần lãnh được một ơn toàn xá. Nếu chúng ta không tham dự thánh lễ và rước lễ thì dù có cầu nguyện và đi viếng nhà thờ thì cũng không được lãnh ơn toàn xá. Hay có tham dự thánh lễ mà không rước lễ thì cũng không được lãnh ơn toàn xá. Đi viếng nhà thờ thì đọc một kinh Lạy Cha, một kinh Kính Mừng và một kinh Tin Kính, tùy ý đọc thêm kinh Năm Thánh để cầu theo ý Đức Giáo Hoàng (x.Thành Luật,n.10). Đọc kinh Năm Thánh do Đức Giáo Hoàng làm ra thì không có gì thích hợp bằng.
