BUILDING KNOWLEDGE AND INTELLECT

Our Curriculum

Archbishop Ryan’s academic program is based on a traditional liberal arts curriculum. We believe that education should be more than the acquisition of facts--and that the primary focus should be on training the intellect as fully as possible. To that end, we adhere to rigorous and well-rounded academic requirements.

Over four years, our students gain a strong foundation in the humanities and sciences and develop an appreciation for the aesthetic, moral, and religious dimensions of life.

Our curriculum is designed to develop each student’s ability to write well, think logically, and make informed decisions. Following our school mission, dedicated teachers challenge students to work to their God-given potential. Curriculum, instruction, assessment, and appropriate academic interventions are aligned with these high standards to support our students.

At Archbishop Ryan, teachers embrace

technology and take a dynamic, innovative

approach in integrating technology into instruction

and classroom learning. All students have access to

cutting-edge technology on campus and from home.

Our Catholic Identity

Putting Faith into Action

Our active school ministry program is a vital part of our learning community and provides many opportunities for students to grow and share their faith—and to put their faith into action. Students are invited to attend Mass every morning in the school chapel. But whether they choose to attend or not, their spiritual growth is assured. Throughout their four years, starting with the Freshman Opening Liturgy and culminating with the Kairos experience, students are encouraged to discover themselves and cultivate their relationship with God.

Christian Service

Service to others is built into the Catholic approach to education. At Ryan, this is a part of every student’s experience. Service opportunities such as distributing Thanksgiving meals to neighbors, preparing casseroles for the guests of Saint John’s Hospice, or supporting Catholic service organizations, allows each student the opportunity to experience the joy of giving. However, we at Ryan believe that not only do we give when we participate in service projects, but we receive as well. We learn about others, we learn about ourselves, and we gain insight into the world.

Our Catholic IdentityArchbishop Ryan’s Catholic Identity is integral to the heart and soul of the school—helping students to form faith-filled lives and motivating a genuine desire to serve others. Daily theology classes allow students to incorporate and share their personal faith experiences, make connections to the world around them, and ask important questions.

STUDENT LIFE & SCHOOL SPIRIT!

The ArtsAt Ryan, We Support the Arts!

Students may elect to take Art, Band, or Vocal Arts as part of their daily schedule. This adds a rich dimension to their education and is a wonderful creative outlet for all to enjoy. Every December and May, Archbishop Ryan is proud to showcase its students’ talents with an Art Show at which we highlight the artistic accomplishments of students in a variety of areas: visual, musical, and performing arts.

Students may also participate in the two annual school musicals: a popular tradition at Archbishop Ryan. Recent productions include: Annie, A Christmas Carol, Hairspray, and Footloose. Ryan is also home to a black-box theater in which shows are staged and performed in a smaller setting while also providing a classroom for our Theater Arts students to learn about stage production.

Leadership Opportunities

Time for Fun!

At Archbishop Ryan, you’ll have many opportunities to learn and grow. As challenging and rewarding as you’ll find your academic pursuits, you will still have time for fun and expanding your horizons. You can take part in the spring musical, contribute to the newspaper or yearbook, or simply enjoy a Friday night dance. The activities program gives every student a chance to participate.

What you learn outside of the classroom can be as meaningful and significant as what you learn inside. Archbishop Ryan offers many clubs, organizations, and athletic teams to assist all students in developing their own personal interests. Some groups have academic affiliation, while others focus on special interests, community service, or cultural diversity.
