Creating an Accessible Electronic Document is a Team Effort

Applications must: Retain and encode both content and structure

Deliver the information effectively to assistive technology

Provide useful tools to help optimize documents

To the extent possible, be useable by those with disabilities

Authors must: Create documents with accessibility in mind

Define structure such as headers, columns, and so on

Add navigation and explanatory information

And wouldn’t it be better if…Publishing tools would help convert legacy files too?
