INTRODUCING ADOBE STOCK
ADOBE STOCK OVERVIEW
WHAT IS ADOBE STOCK?
WHAT IS ADOBE STOCK?Adobe Stock provides a supply of over 50 million photos, illustrations, images, and videos. This includes professional photosof common places, landmarks, nature, events, or people that arelicensed on a “royalty-free” basis. These images are used forcreative or business purposes in lieu of hiring a photographer for aproject and are often used by book publishers, ad agencies, graphicartists, designers, and filmmakers.
Adobe Stock launched in June 2015. It was created from Adobe’spurchase of Fotolia (though Fotolia will continue to operate theirbusiness separately).
WHY ENTER THE STOCK IMAGERY MARKET?The stock imagery market is a $4 billion industry worldwide. About85% of creative professionals who buy stock images use Adobetools. Over 90% of stock content sellers use Adobe software toprepare their photos, images, and graphics.

TYPES OF LICENSES
SELLING VS. LICENSINGAdobe Stock does not sell images; Adobe Stock licenses images. An image downloader does not own the image. Adobe Stocklicenses the rights to use the images within a permitted scope. The copyright of the image belongs to the uploading artist.
ROYALTY-FREE LICENSES“Royalty-free” is the most common type of license. It is not free.It is merely free of royalties, which means customers pay asingle price for perpetual usage rights without needing to payagain for repeated use. Royalty-free images often come with astandard license offering and an extended license offering, eachwith different usage rights.
ADOBE STOCK = ROYALTY-FREE STANDARD LICENSESAdobe Stock is microstock and offers royalty-free licenses.Standard licenses can be purchased through Adobe.com orthrough a phone sales agent. Extended licenses are availableonly through Adobe.com, not through an Adobe phone salesrepresentative.
