FAMAE's History FAMAE (Factories and Armories of the Chilean Army) is a Chilean defense com­pany with over 200 years of experience contributing to the defense industry and innovative new weapon technologies. Add­ing local value to the defense of Chile has been the mission that FAMAE has fulfilled since 1811 through the manufacture of many types of small arms, ammunition, py­rotechnics, rockets, missiles, and other military products.

It is the policy of FAMAE to be a main sup­plier for military product development and weapon systems and maintenance services by thoroughly fulfilling the needs of their clients, with a special focus to the Chilean Army and other Defense and Law Enforce­ment Institutions.

FAMAE achieves the above with the high­est standard of products and services, and with controlled manufacturing processes using quality management systems based on the requirements of compliance with ISO 9001-2008 Certification.

FAMAE has been manufacturing the SG line of assault rifles, including the SG 540, SG 542, and SG 543 for the Chilean Army and other military forces for over 25 years. The SAF line of sub machineguns were designed in-house by FAMAE to complement the SG assault rifle line.
