Both first and second years of this course run nightly from 6.45-9.45pm on Mondays andWednesdays during the academic year. A3 IPASSCertificate in Payroll Techniques (QQI Level 6, Special Purpose)This course is delivered by the Irish Payroll Association (IPASS), the professional body for thetraining, support and development of the payroll profession. The course is designed to providepayroll personnel with the skills necessary to perform their duties to the highest standard and holda recognised qualification. The course is divided into two semesters, each one conducted over ninenight classes with examinations held in December and May. A6 NEW COMPUTER PROGRAMMINGThis course provides an introductory overview in Computer Programming. A practicalapproach is taken to teaching the fundamental concepts of computer programming, withstrong emphasis on laboratory work which is important for the development of analyticaland coding skills.

The course aims to give students an understanding of how computers can be employed tosolve real world problems, especially with Maya or 3D max. Specifically students willlearn how to write programmes in an object orientated language such as Java or Python.Time will be given to the reinforcement of problem solving and programming skills bydeveloping solutions to programming problems and implementing those solutions asobject based programmes.

A7 NEW PODCASTINGHOW TO PODCAST – produce a podcast that stands out from the noise PODCASTING is one of the greatest innovations since the invention of the wireless. Anyone withaccess to inexpensive equipment can produce a podcast and make themselves heard. Podcasting isalso one of the most effective ways to extend the reach of a publisher or broadcaster, and it's alsoa cost-effective and way for marketers to connect customers with targeted content.

Course participants will learn the key elements that will make their podcast shine – how to recordand produce slick audio; how to get the best out of interviewees; how to pitch and develop an ideaand deliver it to an audience in an innovative and attractive format. Participants will finish thiscourse having acquired solid, marketable recording and podcasting skills. The course will alsoprovide a strong foundation for those wishing to pursue a higher broadcasting, journalism or mobilejournalism diploma.

A8 PHOTOSHOPPhotoshop Course goals: To teach students the basic concepts involved in manipulating and editingimages using Adobe Photoshop.

• Class 1 – Introduce students to the main tools in the software, allow students to experimenttaking images from online and getting used to the interface. • Class 2 – Show students how tocreate a collage • Class 3 - More advanced class on using and experimenting with the layers panelto create background and cut-out style images. • Class 4 – Blending modes • Class 5 – Masks • Class 6 – Adjustment layers One class will bededicated to teaching students the basic concepts of using adjustment layers / in depthexplanation of using Hue/Saturation and Levels to make fine adjustments to an image of theirchoice.

A11 NEW CONCEPT DESIGN FOR GAMING AND ANIMATION(plus environment concept design and layout for animation)Taught by an industry expert, this course will help participants understand what concept design isin relation to games and animation. Participants will be taught technical skills from pencil to digitalwith the aim of creating portfolio ready pieces.

A13 ART PORTFOLIO PREPARATIONLearn from an experienced specialist tutor how to put a portfolio together to showcase yourapplication to an art college. Students will receive individualised feedback. Applicants must be aminimum of 16 years at the time of enrolment. Written Parental/ Guardian consent to attend thecourse / participate in life drawing classes must accompany all applications of participants under18.

SECTION 2 - HOBBY & LEISURE COURSESA16 INTRODUCTION TO HAT MAKINGThis is a Millinery course for complete beginners. Participants will be introduced to a range oftechniques for making fascinators and headpieces as well as learning to work with differentmaterials such as Sinamay, felt, fabric and wire. Learn how to block, shape, stiffen, wire, stitch,trim and finish your original designs.

This course will enable you to construct your own headpieces and progress to a more advancedMillinery course. Materials are not included in the course price.For the first class, participants should bring the following:1.5 metres Sinamay, scissors, sewing needles, thread, thimble, strong pins with coloured heads,tape measure, ideas for trimmings.

A17 NEW SEWING TECHNIQUESOn this course you will be introduced to the different professional sewing techniques applied togarment construction within the Fashion industry. Through practical demonstrations/workshops youwill be introduced to a specific skill using the correct tools and relevant techniques. You will beencouraged to experiment and to explore the different possibilities to create innovative designs. Oncompletion you will have completed a technical sewing portfolio which will be your bible for futuresewing projects. This course is suitable for students who wish to pursue further study in FashionDesign or who wish to learn the skills to make their own garments.

A20 TATTOO ARTISTRY – AN INTRODUCTIONThis course aims to guide Participants through the fundamentals of fine art drawing skills andtechniques that are pivotal to any Artists’s portfolio. Fine art practitioners and tattoo industry expertswill guide you in using these traditional skills, to help you grow as an artist and develop your ownstyle inspired by the tattoo industry. While brushing up on fine art techniques, participants will learnthe ins and outs of the tattoo industry, styles of tattooing, how to approach a shop and what makesa good portfolio stand out from the crowd. All information is tailored towards Dublin’s opportunities,using international Tattoo Artistry standards as inspiration for creating a quality portfolio.

RegistrationRegistration times are evenings 2nd & 4th September 2019, from 6pm – 8pm in the main building.

All classes commence week beginning Monday 9th September 2019 unless otherwise stated. Full payment mustbe received before attending classes.

ApplicationsPostal Applications will be accepted and should be accompanied by course name and applicant contact detailsincluding mobile number and email address. Please note that receipts for postal enrolments will not be issued untilweek commencing 28th August 2018.

Admissions/ClassesATI 2 will commence Monday 2nd September. All courses and times and content may be changed at the discretionof the College. Classes may be amalgamated where needed. Students should review course content on therelevant websites of QQI, ATI, as appropriate to view the suitability of the course for their needs.

PaymentPlease review individual course information regarding payment, which may be made by postal order or bank draft.Cash will not be accepted and payment must be received before course commencement. Receipts issued by AnPost/ Banks for the purchase of postal orders/ bank drafts should be retained for your own records. Cardpayments can be made to the Director of Adult Education.

InvoicesPlease request an invoice in writing from BCFE or by email to [email protected] giving full course andpersonal details. One weeks’ notice is required.

RefundsFees will not be refunded unless a class fails to form. In such a case, fees will be refunded by CDETB Head Officein due course.
