Our Mission
The El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE) Adult Education programs provide our region’s adult learners with a wide range of rich learning experiences tailored to meet their unique needs. Our programs prepare and empower our students to achieve their educational, career, and personal goals - whether it is earning a high school diploma, a high school equivalency certificate (GED), or passing one of hundreds of industry-approved certifications at our Pearson Vue Test Center.
Overview
Founded in 2006, the Adult Education program continues to expand to address the needs in our community and surrounding areas. The program offers classes from El Dorado Hills to Lake Tahoe, in structured, yet flexible learning environments, and all of the courses are free. Our highly-trained and caring staff are credentialed instructors who are committed to helping you succeed.
Probation & Inmate Education Programs
In addition to our regular Adult Education programs, EDCOE partners with the County of El Dorado Community Corrections Partnership (CCP) to offer educational programs for those individuals who are in the County Probation program, or who are incarcerated in either the Placerville or the South Lake Tahoe County Jail. Options include: High school diploma; GED; TASC; short-term vocation certification courses; Northern California Construction Training pre-apprenticeship training programs (NCCT), as well as reading, writing, or enrichment classes, all offered free of charge.
Partners: El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department El Dorado County Probation Department Capital Adult Ed Regional Consortium Lake Tahoe Adult Ed Consortium
Two distinct modes of learning:
Classroom Format: Students at various academic stages, work with an instructor in a more traditional classroom setting for individu-al or group assistance.
Distance Learning: These online or remote courses are designed for students who cannot attend regularly scheduled classes.
