Dear readers,
What you have in your hands is the new “child” of our magazine family: the advance product news.
With advance product news, we want to present all of the new products of Siemens Industry (Industry Automation and Drive Technologies divisions) twice a year, respectively for the big events of the Hanover Fair and SPS/IPC/DRIVES.
The individual product articles are divided into sections with which many of you will already be familiar from advance: automation technology, drive technology, switchgear systems etc. An article about our presentation at the Hanover Fair as well as high light topics such as the Simatic S7-mEC modular embedded controller, IE communication modules with gigabit connection or modular safety with Sirius 3RK3 round off the informative publication.
We hope you enjoy reading our new magazine and that you fi nd the information valuable.

Focus: Hanover Fair
Siemens is presenting its wide range of systems, so-lutions and services for the production industry at this year’s Hanover Fair/Interkama+ under the motto of “Increase your productivity.” The automotive in-dustry is a good example of this because it exhibits a high degree of automation, standardization and fl ex-ibility due to the strong pressure of costs. Technolo-gies and concepts which are used in the automotive industry also contribute to an increase in produc -tivity in other areas such as manufacturers, fi rst tier suppliers and machine producers.
“The Tube”
At the exhibition christened “The Tube” in hall 9, visitors experience the complete production of a
VW Tiguan with state-of-the-art automation from Siemens in the Live Factory. Process steps in the pro-duction line from ore mining and coil production, press shop, body construction, paintshop, power-train to final assembly are demonstrated by virtual presentations, real production presentations and live commentaries. The process steps are automated with the latest Siemens technology.
All the automation components in the units are largely connected via Profi safe on Profi net. Complex safety solutions can be implemented much more easily and effi ciently in the total system by the com-bination of Profi net, Profi safe and IWLAN. The Simatic Mobile 277F IWLAN mobile panel with which the operator can communicate wirelessly with the system via Profi safe on Profi net is on show at the
Innovations at the Hanover Fair 2008
The Key to Increasing Productivity+
The trade visitors to the Hanover Fair can fi nd out about the numer-ous new products in the fi eld of automation technology again this year. A special highlight is a Live Factory. There, visitors can see for themselves how company productivity can be increased by a set of aligned automation solutions. The example presented at the fair is the pioneer branch, the automotive industry.

Siemens booth for the fi rst time. Automation high-lights in the fi eld of conveyor technology are the new Sinamics G120D-F frequency converters and Simatic ET200 pro FC with high degree of protection which communicate with the controller via Profi net. Highly effi cient drive systems using the new Siemens Motox gear motors are also available for scrutiny by the expert public.
Solutions for the manufacturing industry Based on the example of a state-of-the-art automotive production which is equipped with Siemens technol-ogy for the automation and drive technology in all
steps as well as for the energy supply, it is demon-strated that Siemens is an ideal partner for the most complex requirements in industry.
Apart from the automotive sector, solutions are also being presented at the booth which provide answers to conceptional automation problems in other sectors of production. For example, the range of solutions for conveyor technology using distributed drives and innovative identifi cation systems is also interesting for users in the food & beverages industry or airport logistics.
Of course, all new products of the proven product and system series, from energy technology, drives and sensors to controllers and HMI, will be on show again this year.
Interesting special presentations Another highlight at the fair is the special presen-tation of the PLM software (Product Lifecycle Man -a gement) which is being presented in detail at the Hanover Fair for the fi rst time since taking over UGS Corp. Digital Factory/PLM solutions cover the areas of CAD, production simulation and much more. An ideal PLM builds on a smooth data transfer from the digi-tal factory to the real factory. The best example of this is the Automation Designer (see also page 6). This comprehensive engineering system enables the trans-fer of data from the planning phase and automatic confi guring of the automation solution. The plant gradually takes shape in the computer. Reusing al-ready entered data not only shortens the time to mar-ket, the error possibilities and engineering effort are also reduced.
And last but not least another informative and en-tertaining demonstration on the topic of “50 Years of Simatic” is waiting for visitors at another special booth.

Various tasks of an automation solution such as control, technology functions or visualization can be implemented on one hardware platform with the Simatic S7-mEC. S7-mEC features a modular structure in S7-300 design with S7-300 modules.
The hardware basis is state-of-the-art PC technol-ogy with the high-performance components Intel Core Duo 1.2 GHz, 2GB Flash Disk and 1 GB RAM. WinAC RTX 2008 is used as a control program, Windows XPe as an operating system. It can be used with a remote monitor over great distances of 100 m and more via TCP/IP. The memory for data remanence has a capacity of 256 KB without UPS. The S7-mEC has a slot for a Multimedia Card (MMC slot).
The structure without a fan and a hard disk allows the solution to be used directly on the machine in harsh ambient conditions. Thanks to the three Ethernet interfaces (in addition to two USB interfaces) the system can be integrated with little effort into existing automation landscapes (Simatic world).
The modular Embedded Controller can be installed and commissioned like a S7-300. The use of HMI with WinCC fl exible is an option. HMI with the new Simatic Thin Client and the additional use of standard Windows XPe applications are also possible.

Siemens offers a comprehensive portfolio of explosion-protected drives for systems with an explosion risk where an elevated level of safety is required for the protection of staff, environment, and equipment.
The portfolio covers powers of 0.1 kW to 100 MW, a speed range up to 15,000 rpm also in the megawatt range, standard or customer-specifi c solutions and all appli-cable types of ignition protection for dust and gas atmospheres. The drives can be designed with double protection for spe-cial requirements: a double protection of pressurized, encapsulated motors (Ex d) and enhanced safety (Ex e) is advisable, for example, when is has to be ensured that
the electrical equipment poses no risk for ignition to hazardous freight or load. Es-pecially Loher drives meet these combined requirements. Loher is the market leader for pressurized, encapsulated motors. All models are tested individually for pres-sure density at the factory.
High- and low-voltage motors from the standard Siemens range are the solution for most ignition protection types at all powers in explosion-protected versions. The appropriate Loher motors are the equipment of choice for explosion protec-tion in connection with customer-specifi c requirements.
The Ex motors from Siemens and Loher have all the applicable certifi cations such as ATEX for Europe, NEPSI or CQST for China or Rostekhnadzor for Russia. With
protection types up to IP68, they are suit-able for temperatures from –55 to +70 °C. Chemical-proof or offshore paints protect them against aggressive atmospheres or salty sea air.
For variable speed operation, Loher converters are available in addition to the standard Siemens converters. The con-verters from Loher are tailored for the re-quirements of Ex-protection: Dynavert T converters, for example, which are ATEX certifi ed for operation with explosion-pro-tected motors of Zone 1 (see Advance 2/08, pg. 16f. for more information about this topic).

Sirius 3RK3 modular safety system
Modular Safety for More Flexibility in the PlantThe Sirius 3RK3 modular safety system is a new safety solution in between a simple safety switching device and a failsafe controller.
+
The MSS 3RK3 can be used in all industries and applications where several safety functions have to be evaluated and the wiring several switching devices is possible only with signifi cant effort.
The core of the system is the central module with eight safety-oriented inputs, a safety-related relay and an electronic output. The number of inputs and outputs can be changed at any time with up to seven expansion modules. The quantity framework of the safety system can therefore be adapted fl exibly to the requirements of various applications.
The modular structure of the 3RK3 safety system allows very low-cost, safety-related solutions to be implemented because the user only has to use as many devices as he really needs for his application. A Profi bus DP interface module enables communi-cation with master controllers via Profi bus.
Input and output signals are set and device func-tions connected using the MSS ES parameterization software. All function elements can be positioned by
drag&drop and all functions – both safety or logic functions – are available as components. They are simply linked with each other and do not have to be wired at a great effort so that time and money is saved.

The Sirius 3RA6 compact starter – in screw-type or spring-loaded connection technology – belongs functionally to the series of individual devices of the Sirius switchgear for setting up load feeders and the Simatic ET 200S motor starters.
The device can be used in all applications in which standard three-phase current motors up to 32 A (ap-prox. 15 kW/400 V) are started directly. The universal motor feeder in accordance with IEC/EN 60947-6-2 unites the functions of a circuit breaker, an electronic overload relay and a contactor in a very compact de-sign. Wide setting and wide voltage ranges as well as the setting of the trip class (Class 10 or 20) directly on the device minimize the number of device types of the compact starter, maintaining the full scope of func-tions. This reduces the planning, wiring and assem-bly effort quite considerably.
Functions such as the safe switching off at the end of the lifetime, the separate display of short-circuit and overload detection or optional additional compo-nents such as the “Control Kit” for the early error de-tection before commissioning ensure highly available machines and systems. Removable terminals also allow fast replacement without long downtimes in the case of servicing.
Sirius 3RA6 compact starter
Innovative Motor Feeder+
The Sirius compact starter also scores points in terms of a highly effi cient energy supply in the con-trol cabinet: with the corresponding Sirius infeed sys-tem for 3RA6, also designed in screw-type or spring-loaded connection technology, into which the compact starter is plugged easily without tools.
The infeed system for 3RA6 additionally reduces the wiring effort in the switch cabinet and can be extended if necessary up to a width of 1.20 m with different extension modules.
In the sense of a Sirius total solution, 3RV Sirius cir-cuit breakers can be used thanks to different adapt-ers or the 3RV19 Sirius infeed system added with the appropriate extension plugs. The motor connecting cable can be connected directly to the PE rail inte-grated into the infeed system so that numerous con-nection terminals can be omitted.
An AS-Interface mounting module is available in order to use the Sirius compact starter in applications with AS-Interface and thus reduce the wiring effort even more. Different message functions such as diag-nostic, status and overload messages can be trans-mitted to the controller conveniently in this way.

The two S7 Advanced communication modules CP 343-1 Advanced for Simatic S7-300 and Sinumerik 840D powerline and CP 443-1 Advanced for Simatic S7-400 connect the PLC to the IT environment with Gigabit and Standard Ethernet on the one side and to the fi eld level with Fast Ethernet and Profi net on the other. With the separate network connections between the Control Level and the Field Level they ensure a clean network separation on the one hand but at the same time enable network wide utilization of IT services such as access to Web servers by the integrated IP routing. They therefore create the basis for a fl at communication structure and enable a hor-izontal and vertical homogeneity in the company.
A confi gurable IP access list offers effective pro-tection against unauthorized access to the PLC and the subordinate network.
CP 343-1 and CP 443-1 Advanced ensure short response times for the subordinate fi eld device con-nection with Profi net because they now support IRT in addition to RT communication. If the modules are integrated into an electrical ring structure, fast switching times ensure a high plant availability due to media redundancy.
Performant PC communication
A PC is connected to Industrial Ethernet or Profi bus with both modules CP 1623 and CP 5621. An own pro-cessor in CP 1623 ensures a stable, uninterrupted and performant communication even in the case of a high load on the computer, for example by a visual-ization or PC-based control. CP 1623 has a transfer rate of up to 1 GB/s and two RJ45 connections and has an integrated 2-port switch that enables simple exten-
sion of the communication wiring. For added security of the switching function in case of a PC failure or a switched off PC the integrated switch can also be sup-plied with an external voltage. A PC or a programming unit is connected to Profi bus or the multipoint-ca pable MPI interface for Simatic S7 communication by CP 5621.
Current PCI Express Bus x1 technology for PCI Express slots from x1 to x16 allows the use of both modules in the latest PCs. The user interfaces are functionally compatible in design with the respective predecessor module which simplifi es their integra-tion into existing application.

IO Link
Comprehensive Communication Standard
+
Today, sensors and actuators support a wide range of specifi c functions such as parameterization or diagnos-tics. To make these available to the automation network, IO Link now provides a new, manufacturer-neutral communication standard which is based on the proven network topologies and existing I/O wirings and can simulate the entire sensor/actuator functionalities system-wide. This enables a homogeneous communica-tion from the MES level to the individual sensors and actuators.
IO Link allows a central data and parameter storage and a transparent confi guration and parameteri -zation with Simatic Step 7 down to the lowest fi eld level. Devices can be hot swapped without reparam-eterization, the parameter set is simply reloaded. Integrated diagnostic mechanisms also allow errors to be detected, localized and eliminated quickly.
IO Link is the further development of the IQ-Sense system and combines the advantages of IQ-Sense with the conventional connection technology of sensors and actuators. The security of investment for conven-tional IO links is guaranteed because the link is com-patible with the conventional sensor/actuator link. The new interface uses existing point-to-point con-nections, integration into existing fi eld bus systems is no problem. The IO Link interface then supports both operating modes as required: the transmission of a simple switching signal or the bi-directional serial communication. First IO Link products such as Simatic PXS and PXO proximity switches, an ET 200S IO Link master module and K20 IO Link modules which also offer all the advantages of Totally Integrated Automation (TIA) will be available soon.

Information Technology
Simatic IT Intelligence Suite assembles and structures operational and business informa-tion from a single site or multiple manufactur-ing sites. Raw process and operational data is put within a broader business context, provid-ing the basis for business actionable intelli-gence and a move toward more fact-based decisions in the manufacturing enterprise.
Simatic IT Intelligence Suite enables manufacturers gain an essential component for the realization of manufacturing excellence. Operations management can have up to the minute measures of performance against plan and live key performance indicators (KPIs) for one site or many sites. In addition, manu-facturing intelligence analytics provide the means for users to discover trends and correlations that might have ordinarily gone unnoticed.
Regardless of the type of manufacturing improve-ment program being implemented, information on manufacturing operations that is both timely and ac-curate is essential. For example, an improvement pro-gram which targets the minimization of losses within batch processes needs to capture and analyze infor-mation that fl ows from the results of each production batch. A Simatic IT MES solution that manages batch production continuously collects data directly from the automation control system as well as from the op-

Taking Effi ciency to New Levels+
erator. As each batch completes Simatic IT assembles information that classifi es the nature and magnitude of losses in both time and material. Simatic IT Intelli-gence Suite collects this captured information and provides a structure for the aggregation and summa-rization of this information according to a number of different attributes or dimensions. These aggre-gations may even cross multiple production sites, providing a powerful mechanism for comparing per-formance. Equipped with such information, and ana-lytics, productivity improvement teams can then be precisely directed in their improvement efforts.
The benefi ts realized through improved intelli-gence and improved visibility can manifest them-selves in a variety of ways, including the reduction of operating costs, providing valuable new or enhanced capabilities, increased regulatory compliance, and improved alignment of operations with business goals and metrics. In the batch production example, the manufacturer could reduce losses in time or materials while improving asset utilization. In fact, through improved asset utilization, potentially un-necessary and expensive capital asset investments may be avoided entirely.
In the near future, Simatic IT Intelligence Suite will include pre-packaged libraries that address particu-lar needs of manufacturers, such as performance management and asset management.
