ADVANCED HYDROGEN ENERGY SYSTEMS HENERGY ‐ Project Workshop 16 – 18 June 2015 GRABOUW – BELLVILLE, WESTERN CAPE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA The HENERGY project undertaken within EU FP7 ERAfrica partnership contributes to the thematic field “Renewable Energies” and aim to join the best efforts of the European and African scientific communities in targeting development of the advanced (integrated with renewable energy sources) high efficiency hydrogen energy systems. The project consortium is represented by six institutions, two European (Norway, Turkey) and two African (South Africa, Egypt) countries. The South African project consortium member (University of the Western Cape, UWC) is represented by HySA Systems metal hydride team hosted by South African Institute for Advanced Materials Chemistry (SAIAMC). The second project workshop summarising the progress of the first year and outlining further plans for year two took place on 16‐18 June in South Africa, as per the project plan.

The second project workshop
summarising the progress of the
first year and outlining
further plans for year two took place on 1618 June in South Africa, as per the project plan.
The workshop was opened on June 16, 2015, in Houw Hoek Inn Hotel & Conference Centre,
Grabouw, where the participants
presented results of
their work within the project and
discussed further plans of their collaborative R&D activities.
On June 18, 2015 the workshop was continued at SAIAMC Innovation Centre, UWC, Bellville,
where an overview of hydrogen and fuel cell activities at HySA Systems Competence Centre
was presented to the participants followed by a tour on the
laboratory and manufacturing
facilities at both SAIAMC and its industrial partner.
