    The gyratory compactor is used to simulate the real compaction conditions achieved under actual road paving operations, hence determining the compaction properties of asphalts.This model is entirely designed and manufactured by Matest. It works combining an electro-mechanical rotation with a pneumatically operated vertical pressure.

    Matest Gyratory Compactor accepts standard moulds or perforated moulds for emulsified asphalts (internal diameter of 100 mm or 150 mm).The machine is equipped with a PC-based control unit with full colour and touch screen display for the management, control and visualization of test data, screens and graphs.

    Supplied complete with standard height block, lubricant, and power cord.

    Modes of specimen compaction:

    • by number of rotations

    • by specimen height, from 0 to 200 mm

    • by specimen density

  • ROLLER COMPACTOR,ELECTRO-MECHANICAL DRIVEN

    Matest Roller Compactor is used to produce representative sample slabs of several dimensions of bituminous mixtures laid and compacted on site. The machine works with an electro-mechanical system, and therefore it does not require any air source (compressor) or hydraulic pressure.

    The compaction is performed through a segmented roller with alternated operated rotation which simulates the on-site action of a street roller. The compaction cycle can be programmed in accordance to a certain load or deformation value.The flexibility of the program grants the production of samples with uniform density and dimensions, fully meeting Standards specifications and research requirements; these samples are compatible for rut test with Matest Wheel Tracking apparatus B038.

    The sample slabs can be also cored or cut off to obtain cylinders and beams for bending fatigue, indirect tensile, static and dynamic creep, stiffness, and 4-point tests.

    Wheel tracker is designed to assess the resistance to rutting of bituminous samples under conditions that simulate closely the effect of slow moving traffic.The apparatus has a data acquisition and processing system for automatic test control.

    The test is conceived for laboratory application: a rubber tyred wheel of outside diameter of 200 mm is loaded with 700N ± 10 (EN Standard) or 520N (BS Standard) and rolled over a rectangular or cylindrical sample held on a moving table under constant and controlled temperature. The load is applied on the sample through a lever and the wheel penetration (rut depth) is measured in real time by means of a linear transducer of 40 mm travel, 0.01 mm accuracy.Matest Wheel Tracker accepts samples with dimensions up to 500x400 mm, 180 mm high (obtained from Matest Roller Compactor).

    Test results can be automatically downloaded when a serial connection is activated and data transmission to PC is obtained through the RS 232 port. No software installation is required as data acquisition can be easily obtained through the Hyperterminal program that is provided with almost all computers. Text file can be exported into Word/Excel programs.

    The machine is supplied complete with adaptors for a correct mould positioning and locking.
