Video Storage and NAS Affecting the Growth of Hard Drives in the Near
Coming Years
According to the report, “Enterprise and IP Storage used for Video Surveillance,” from IHS Inc.,
consumption of High Definition (HD) cameras will continue to rise, with their daily data dump more
than doubling over the next four years to 859 PB by 2017. At the same time, the growth in
numbers of home and small business networks has resulted in increased demand for NAS
devices. Hence, in the near future growth in hard drive usage will come mainly from video
storage and NAS devices.

Introducing Next Generation Form Factor (NGFF) SSD
PAPS would like to introduce NextGeneration Form Factor (NGFF) or M.2 to everyone. The NGFF standard is led
by Intel® and has been defined with the combined input from many players in the electronics industry. It also
supports SATA and PCIe interfaces. Generally speaking, NGFF is used to replace the mSATA interface on small
devices. Following are some advantages comparing NGFF to mSATA. NGFF SSD has been expected to become
the norm in high-end SSD market and PAPS plans to phase in NGFF in the Q4, 2014.
