Advent

“Everyone should see how unselfish you are. The Lord Himself is near. Dismiss all anxiety from your minds. Present your needs to God in every form of prayer and in petitions full of gratitude. Then God’s own peace which is beyond understanding will stand guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”…“The crowds asked John ‘What are we to do?’…the people were full of anticipation…”At the midway point of Advent, we too can
ask the question the crowds put to John the Baptist. We might preface it with another question: ‘What have we done thus far?’ What is the Lord asking of me during the next ten days? St. Paul is quite clear telling his audience to focus on the Lord, offering prayer, petitions and expressions of gratitude. Do not fall into the trap of routine or busyness, without a moment each day of prayer that God’s peace may reign in your heart. Our novena of preparation can consist simply by turning to the Word of God, reflecting on the mystery of Jesus’ coming, and how we want Him to find us when we celebrate His birth. Then God’s own peace will be really with us. By Rev. William J. Reilly

BREAD & WINE AND ALTAR FLOWERS of this week are in loving memory of
Petrina Guarisco Requested by
The Apoldo Family
*PRAYER SICK LIST UPDATE* We are happy to list parishioners names who
request our prayers in the bulletin. Please note that the pastor’s policy is to ensure the consent of the person whose name appears here. Only they or a family member may request a name
be added to this list. However, we have had trouble keeping the list up-to-date. Many
people forget to let us know when to take a name off the list and, as a result, our list continues to grow. We will list names for
prayer requests for one month. After the last Sunday of the month the names on the list will be taken off and a new prayer request list will be published the first Sunday of the month. If someone wishes to have a name remembered again, the name must be re-submitted to the office. This will assure that we keep an up-to-
date list and help make the list more readable.
