TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — All the peoples shall stream toward the LORD’S house (Isaiah 2:1‐5). Psalm — Let us go rejoicing to the house of the Lord (Psalm 122). Second Reading — It is the hour to cast off the dark and clothe ourselves in the light (Romans 13:11‐14). Gospel — Stay awake! Be prepared! The Son of Man will come when you least expect (Matthew 24:37‐44). STEWADRSHIP REFELCTION Most of us are quite familiar with Jesus’ comments about faith, hope, and love. As we enter the Advent season, it is a time for us to emphasize all three, but today’s readings in particular speak of hope. Isn’t that what Advent is all about?
Many people in our world, perhaps even here in our parish and community, seem to have a feeling of hopelessness. We should not be among them; worldly thinking produces hopelessness, but our hope is found in Jesus Christ Who has redeemed us and paid for all our sins on the Cross.
In the First Reading the prophet Isaiah foresees a time of peace, a time when all literally “walk in the light of the Lord.” Two phrases commonly quoted are included in this reading: “They shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.” This peaceful world is exactly what we prepare for during this Advent time. Think of how often we hear the word “Peace” used at this time of year. Think of how many Christmas cards bear that word alone.
Peace produces hope and hope produces peace. That is the feeling we are seeking at this time, as we prepare to declare “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” The eminent French author Alexandre Dumas (who wrote The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo among others) once wrote, “All human wisdom is summed up in two words: wait and hope.” Is that not what we do during Advent?

REFLECION DOMINICAL
La mayoría de nosotros estamos muy familiarizados con los comentarios de Jesús sobre la fe , la esperanza y el amor. Al entrar en el tiempo de Adviento, que es un tiempo para nosotros destacar los tres, pero las lecturas de hoy, en particular, hablan de esperanza. No es eso lo Adviento es todo esto?
Muchas personas en el mundo, incluso aquí en nuestra parroquia y comunidad, parecen tener un sentimiento de desesperanza. No debemos estar entre ellos; pensamiento del mundo produce desesperanza, pero nuestra esperanza se encuentra en Jesucristo que nos ha redimido y pagado por todos nuestros pecados en la cruz.
En la primera lectura del profeta Isaías prevé un tiempo de paz, un momento en que todo literalmente "caminar en la luz del Señor." Dos frases comúnmente citados se incluyen en esta lectura: "Ellos volverán sus espadas en rejas de arado y sus lanzas en podaderas. "este mundo pacífico es exactamente lo que nos preparamos para durante este tiempo de Adviento. Pensar en la frecuencia con la que oímos la palabra "paz" que se utiliza en esta época del año. Piense en cuántas tarjetas de Navidad llevan esa palabra sola.
Paz produce esperanza y la esperanza produce la paz. Esa es la sensación que estamos buscando en este momento, mientras nos preparamos para declarar "Gloria a Dios en las alturas y en la tierra paz a los que gozan de su favor." El autor francés eminente Alexandre Dumas (que escribió Los tres mosqueteros yEl El conde de Montecristo entre otros) escribió una vez: "Toda la sabiduría humana se resume en dos palabras: esperar y esperanza." ¿no es eso lo que hacemos durante el Adviento?

Medical Aid needed for Madre Josefina
The Madre at Casa Eudes, the girls’ home in Tijuana that we support, has an aggressive form of cancer. Mission Circle is trying to raise money to pay for her chemo treatments. This compassionate woman who has dedicated her life to helping “at risk” children, is now in need of help herself. If your life has been touched in any way by this dreaded disease, you know how important it is to be able to pay for good medical treatment. Please help us cover this expense. St. James—St. Leo Catholic Community is under the pastoral care of the Eudist Fathers, or Congregation of Jesus and Mary. We owe our name to Saint John Eudes who founded the Congregation in France in 1643. The Eudists currently operate in 15 countries, most of which are in the developing world. Evangelization, mainly with the poor and the youth, is our primary purpose, as well as formation to ministry in the

Thank you to all of our parishioners who have made such generous sacrifices to this campaign. As of Monday, November 21st, we have received 263 pledges which represents 22% of our parish community. Our goal is to receive a response from 100% of our parishioners.
We ask all families who have yet to respond to the campaign to please do so as soon as possible! Please remember that gifts of all sizes are greatly appreciated. We know that everyone’s financial situation is different, which is why we are asking that each family make the same size sacrifice, not the same size gift. We ask every family to please respond to the campaign in some way, even if you are unable to give at this time. Complete a pledge card and return it in the collection, bring it by the parish office or place it in the mail. We need everyone’s participation for this campaign to be successful.
