KNOW YOUR AREA In every state, city and town there are areas where people of the same background, lifestyle and age will tend to congregate when buying property. If you are smart about where you spend your budget, do some research and you will see where your property fits in. For example, if you are looking to increase the value of a property in a beachside suburb, you could install an outdoor shower for sand to be rinsed off before entering the house. GO GREEN Environmentally-friendly features can be practical and attractive, and buyers in certain areas will pay a premium for them. If you don’t have the budget to install a solar system, you can still replace older lighting with energy-efficient globes, install water-saving measures in bathrooms and kitchens or rework downpipes to feed into a small rainwater tank.
