My name is Tom Busath and I’m an ad student from BYU. I’m planting my foot in art direction and I love to create.

I wanted to have a unique campaign that no one else did, so I did this one solo. Whitelines® is a light grey paper with white lines – a patented design that makes your writing stand out.

Sold at the front of the restaurant.
All great ideas are written on napkins. Whitelines® napkins would be put in restaurants like Denny’s, and our notebooks would be sold in the front of the restaurant. Break through the clutter.

I thought about how Whitelines paper was different than other paper and it dawned on me– It’s completely opposite. So I came up with these ads. I also set up the photoshoot and took the pictures.

15Movie Theaters: $896,400 (6% of Budget)
Movie theatres are an effective way to reach a captive audience. We decided that we could influence our tar-get audience (especially because 18-29 year-old males attend high quantities of movies) through advertising during the pre-previews. Since this medium is rela-tively cheap, we can run a heavy amount of advertising here throughout the year. We will run one 30 second ad before every movie for the year. CPM is impossible to calculate.
Web Banner Ads: $2,509,573 (17% of Budget)
62% of all men ages 18-25 are on Youtube. Conse-quently, this is one of the main sites that we will display banner ads. We will advertise on youtube.com, tick-etmaster.com, spotify.com, and pandora.com. We are going to pay on a cost-per-click basis. It will cost $2.00 per thousand clicks . We will allot 2 million dollars, and when the budget total has been reached, the ads will cease.
All children embrace a fun aspect to riding the escalator. It never really leaves as an adult. Why not hit our target market with a little bit of fun?
Movie theaters are unique because they house a captive audience that’s looking for entertainment. Before previews, we would show our ads and entice people to visit the concession stand.
“A friend you can” eat has literal meaning in this creative Point-of-Purchase advertisement. Grocery stores rarely have eye-catching displays, but this one would catch and hook.

Keep your friends close
and your roomies closer
B y K AT E Ly N R H O D E H O U S E & M I C H E L L E M E N E Z E S
There are many consid-
erations when choosing
an apartment. A student
usually examines price, location
and amenities. However, one
important consideration stu-
dents sometimes forget when
making this decision is who
their roommates will be.
“Compatibility of room-
mates is important in
determining one’s happiness
as a student,” said John Pace,
director of the Center for
Conflict Resolution. “It’s a huge
decision.”Pace suggests roommates sit
down and listen to one another.
“Have a discussion about
how to run the apartment and
find out what the different
points of view are,” he said.
Garry Briggs, manager
of the Off-Campus Housing
Office, said he also recom-
mends that roommates get
together and talk about apart-
ment standards.
“Have each roommate go
through and put everything out
on the table, then talk about
what challenges the apartment
might have and how to help
everyone stay happy,” Briggs
said. “I would also encourage
each roommate to talk about
any quirks that they have.”
Holding a roommate council
Similar to a family council, the
roommate council can take
place within an apartment
monthly or weekly
• Elect one roommate to lead
the discussion.
• All roommates need to have
a cooperative attitude and
be willing to listen for an
effective council.
• Avoid singling out or blam-
ing specific roommates.
• Work together in a council
to solve any issues.
• Find peace by allowing each
roommate to speak and
voice concerns.
• Follow up on the goals
established at each room-
mate council.
Sometimes there is a room-
mate who is not willing to have
apartment meetings.
To address this difficulty,
Briggs said the roommate who
has the best relationship with
the unwilling one should sit
down and talk one-on-one.
See what his or her objections
to meeting are and let the
roommate know the others
are anxious to hear his or her
thoughts.A great way to encourage
healthy roommate relationships
is to try to be a good room-
mate yourself. Pace said the
most important attributes for a
roommate to have are tolerance,
patience and understanding.

40 2013 Housing Guide
A t some point during the college experience, it is likely students will live with strangers who have di erent opinions on cleanliness. To address this problem, the following list gives three reasons to keep the apartment clean:1. Good roommate relations Elizabeth Heywood, a senior studying American studies, said there is more contention during cleaning checks if the apartment isn’t clean. One roommate may end up cleaning the mess the others created all month, which leads to a hostile environment. is can be avoided if roommates establish a cleaning system and open communication.
2. HealthEvelia Amador, a cleaning specialist at Merry Maids, said her main reason for keeping an apartment clean is to keep herself and her roommates healthy. “A dirty apartment is just not a safe environment,” Amador said.
3. Cleaning check easeSpacing out the cleanings during the month will maintain a pleasant environment, both in terms of cleanliness and roommate relations.
DishesWhether you live with strangers or friends, a lot of cleanliness problems start in the kitchen. People grow up with di erent expectations when it comes to the dishes – some are used to assigning each person to be in charge of the dishes; others come from homes where their parents did all the dishes. Whatever the case may be, nobody wants to do everyone else’s dishes. Find a dish-washing system that works best for your apartment, whether that’s a dish-duty schedule, hand-washing your own dishes or only using paper goods. If you don’t have a dish-duty schedule set up in your apartment, here are a few tips on how to shock your roommates and win friendship points:
1 Do your own dishes.
2 If you have guests over, do their dishes too.
3 If you make a large meal with several kitchen items, wash those ASAP.4 If you use the only pot or all four spoons your apartment owns, hand wash those right away. Don’t let them sit in the sink or wait for the dishwasher to be empty.
5 Lightly used dishes are okay to set in the sink if your dishwasher is full, but don’t let them pile up.
6 Really dirty dishes should be hand washed or rinsed right after you use them. Letting dirty dishes sit for days makes them much harder to wash later.7 When the dishwasher is full, empty it. Then fi ll it with all the dirty dishes you can.
