10:00-10:30 am Keynote Address: The Oil and Gas Industry in India: Past and Future Trends Grand Ballroom
India was the fourth-largest consumer of crude oil and petroleum products in the world in 2013, after the United States, China, and Japan. The country depends heavily on imported crude oil, mostly from the Middle East. The aim of the new government is to source as much domestic production as it can and further bid rounds to attract new investments. There have been significant successes in the past in India by ONGC, GSPC, Reliance and Cairn Energy in finding domestic oil and gas from conventional resources. What else can be done to help fuel India’s demand for new sources of energy? Dr Mike Watts led the exploration efforts of the London listed Cairn Energy PLC for over more than 20 years in South Asia and will share his experiences during this address.
