Dear Colleague,
This month Grand St. Settlement traveled toAlbany with our partners at United NeighborhoodHouses to speak with our state representativesabout the importance of settlement houses to ourcommunities. We asked our representatives toprioritize the Settlement House Program in thenext �scal year. At Grand St., this state fundingsupplements our Single Stop program, whichconnects people at all of our locations withimportant bene�ts and resources.
Grand St. Settlement and United NeighborhoodHouses are also �ghting for state funding for thechronically underfunded New York City HousingAuthority (NYCHA). We are asking the state tocreate a special capital fund for improvements atnonpro�t community centers in NYCHA buildings,where under-investment results in serious barriersfor our programs. This directly effects 15 GrandSt. Settlement sites such as Rutgers CommunityCenter, Lafayette Gardens CommunityCenter, Roosevelt Community Center, and ourheadquarters at 80 Pitt St.
If you'd like to help us �ght for programs funded byNew York State, please call your staterepresentatives today and ask for them to includefunding for the Settlement House Program andcommunity centers in NYCHA buildings.

Willing Chin-Ma has been the recipient of multipleawards over the last few months. Willing receivedan award from Council Member Margaret Chin atthis year's City Council Lunar New Year'sCelebration in honor of her commitment to socialwork, She will is being honored by the NotableWomen in Human Services Hall of Fame, and willreceive the National Social Willing has spent thelast 25 years �ghting and advocating for thecitizens of New York City. For the past 20+ years,Willing has been dedicated to the people of GrandSt. Settlement and continues to make us proud.Congratulations Willing for this well-deserveddistinction!

Grand Coalition of Seniors enjoyed a Zumba classat 80 Pitt St. With a theme of Love andFriendship, the seniors were encouraged to dressin red or pink.

Bushwick-Hylan Cornerstone Community Centerheld a Youth Panel Discussion in collaborationwith the Mayor's O�ce and NYPD to discusssexual assault and teen dating violence.
