AFIS 1: FARM PROPERTY Farm property policies are designed to provide insurance on existing buildings and their contents. These buildings may function for the insureds’ personal use (such as their home) or their business use (such as their farm/ranch operations). Both household and farm business property may be provided coverage through the farm property program. The same set of forms and endorsements is used for both monoline and package policies. This course examines various ways in which property — primarily property of a type generally found on farms and ranches — can be covered by insurance policies. This course also addresses items that do not necessarily stay on the farm. Tractors, combines, livestock, and other items all found on an insured farm may also move around on and off the farm premises.

AFIS 2: FARM LIABILITY A detailed overview and analysis of the liability exposures faced by farmers and a thorough understanding of the various insurance products that can be used in arranging an insurance program on their behalf. The course examines the most common insurance coverage forms available in the marketplace, including a study of coverage provided as well as exclusions, commonly used endorsements, policy conditions, and miscellaneous provisions.

AFIS 3: FARM AUTO, WORKERS COMPENSATION AND UMBRELLA Examine forms of liability insurance that play an important role in protecting farm and agribusiness operations: vehicle, workers compensation and employer’s liability, and umbrella/excess policies. It examines the various vehicle exposures faced by farmers, ranchers, and other agribusiness operations and how they can be insured, exploring the coverages available under various standard insurance policies. The most common endorsements are also reviewed. This course then examines in detail workers compensation and employers liability insurance as they pertain to agribusinesses.

AFIS 4: SPECIAL FARM PROPERTY INSURANCE LINES Farming, ranching, and agribusiness remain significant parts of the US economy. In fact, agricultural products raised in the United States find their way into the world’s food supply. While the global marketplace represents a huge economic opportunity for the agribusiness community, it is not without its risks. People all over the world are concerned about access to an abundant, safe food supply. Anyone in the food chain can be held responsible when food safety requirements are not met. This course covers five property insurance topics not covered in other AFIS courses: equipment breakdown insurance, mobile agricultural machinery and equipment insurance, livestock insurance, animal mortality insurance, and crop insurance.

AFIS 5: MISCELLANEOUS FARM INSURANCE LINES Learn about various miscellaneous lines of insurance coverage that are important to agribusinesses. The course looks at agricultural pollution risks and insurance. Coverage for environmental liability is extremely limited under both the commercial general liability (CGL) and farm liability coverage forms (FLCF); therefore, environmental impairment liability coverage may have to be obtained through specialty or nonstandard markets where coverage forms vary

significantly. The course also examines management liability insurance. It is important that insurance professionals understand the various insurance policies that together constitute management liability insurance and offer them to agribusiness clients. The course concludes with a discussion of crime exposures and coverages. Every business in the United States is a potential target for criminals. However, agribusinesses are often specifically targeted.

AFIS UPDATE: AGRIBUSINESS GOES HIGH TECH Technology can enhance the productivity of traditional farming processes. Drones, robots, RFID tags, driverless equipment, precision farming, and robotics are just some of the increasingly sophisticated technologies used in agribusiness. However, the use of such technological advances brings new types of risks. This session will look at how risks are changing on the farm and how such risks can be managed and insured.

AFIS UPDATE: EMERGING TRENDS IN FOOD SAFETY RISK MANAGEMENT Food recalls have become more frequent and are often breaking news items. Even organizations with the best safety records and controls can sometimes find themselves dealing with food safety issues and product recall situations. Agribusinesses can be particularly vulnerable to these time-consuming, costly, and potentially reputation-damaging situations. This session will discuss emerging trends in food safety risk management, the limitations on coverage within standard insurance policies, and the extent to which product recall insurance provides the insured indemnification for its financial losses resulting from the recall of a product.

AFIS UPDATE: WHEN FARMING AND ENTERTAINMENT MEET: INSURING AGRITAINMENT EXPOSURES Farmers are continuously adapting to change by innovating. Hayrides, pony rides, pumpkin patches, wine tastings, cornfield mazes, harvest festivals, weddings, and day camps are but a few of the activities that farmers now offer. Such agritainment activities create the opportunity to entice visitors to the farm, provide education about agriculture, and increase overall profits. But adding these activities also can significantly increase risks and create gaps in insurance coverage. This session will explore the risks inherent in agritainment exposures being added to farming operations and how to protect their assets.

AFIS UPDATE: HOW DO THEY COMPARE? PROPERTY COVERAGE UNDER THE FARM PROGRAM VERSUS THE COMMERCIAL PROPERTY PROGRAM Sometimes you have to decide whether you should insure your client’s farm/ag property under the commercial property forms or under the farm property forms. While there are several forms available, not all forms are created equal. This session will review some distinctions between the forms that will enable you to more effectively determine the best path forward for clients.

AFIS UPDATE: FILLING COVERAGE GAPS AND ADDING VALUE FOR THE AG CLIENT Who is insured, the definitions, the exclusions, what is a covered auto, and loading and unloading provisions are just a few of the issues that can create problems when providing insurance coverage. This session will discuss how to avoid coverage gaps that can arise and explore ways to better serve ag clients.
