It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo, at the First Interna�onal Congress of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy with the topic:” Role of psychotherapy in achieving health and well-being for children and adolescents”.

Psychotherapy of developmental age, as a separate and independent discipline, takes and important place in Primary, Secondary and Ter�ary Preven�on in preserva�on of health and wellbeing of children and youth. Researches clearly show that childhood experiences are at the root of most of adult problems. Therefore, the aim of the Congress is to raise the awareness and to emphasize the importance of early detec�on of difficul�es in children and specific interven�ons aimed to working with children, youth and their parents, as well as with the ins�tu�ons, to prevent at the most possible extent development of psychological disorder in adults. .

The United Na�ons Conven�on on the Rights of the Child is the base for promo�on of health and represents the framework of the work of the Congress. .

Guided by our individual and social responsibility to create safer environment for preserva�on of the integrity of children, integra�ng mul�disciplinarity and intersectoral coopera�on, we wish the Congress enables a place for mee�ng of the experts in various areas who through exchange of experiences, presenta�on of the best prac�ces, promo�on of a new trends and scien�fic achievements strive to preserve health and wellbeing of children and youth.

Development of empathy through mee�ng and interac�on could possibly make the world be�er place without wars and conflicts. .

The child is not the past of the individual, but its present and future. We believe that it is important that the Congress send the message that by forming respec�ul rela�onships full of love we care about the child and that in this way we also care about the en�re humanity.

We hope that the Congress wi l l be the p lace of s incere mee�ng which wi l l incitement rela�on of trust and love.

Congress aims to emphasize the need to raise awareness of all professionals in the field of health, social protec�on, educa�on and jus�ce about the importance of mul�disciplinary and intersectoral collabora�on in achieving health and well-being of children and adolescents.

Healthy growth and development of children and adolescents, as well as society as a whole, largely depend on our present ac�vi�es, both in recognizing children's needs and in organizing the op�mum environment and influence, especially from the point of view of preventa�ve as well as cura�ve ac�vi�es.

Congress will be a mee�ng place of different disciplines, ins�tu�ons and organiza�ons whose aim is to preserve the health and well-being of children and adolescents, exchange of experience, the best prac�ces, announcements of new trends, through numerous presenta�ons of par�cipants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croa�a, Serbia, Malta, Macedonia, Montenegro, Slovenia, England, Italy, France, Germany, Austria and other european countries, as so Canada, America and other countries.
