Friendship House Fundraiser Began using online community calendars to promote Zumba fundraiser in advance.

A Bakersfield Californian reporter noticed our community calendar listing and requested newsroom interviews on March 31 with the FHCC Manager and the Zumba Instructor for a full story.

3/3/15 FHCC Attended Bakersfield Sister Cities Project Annual Banquet

FHCC and PRD Staff networked with Sister Cities Project Leaders and offered Friendship House as a welcoming destination for cultural exchange students.

3/7/15 Salvadoran Mobile Consulate at Friendship House

Promoted a one-time, full-day Mobile Consulate for Salvadoran Nationals organized by the Consulate of El Salvador in Los Angeles.

New website Working with The Marcom Group on design for 2-1-1 portion of new CAPK web page. Met with Marcom Group to discuss 2-1-1 special needs for a more robust page that accommodates their database/search engine requirements.

2-1-1 Advocacy Created one-sheet for CAPK/2-1-1 Leadership to appeal to local policymakers for assistance and support of 2-1-1 in anticipation of its 20th Anniversary in 2016.

VITA

Outreach/Social Media Printed extra outreach materials for distribution

Live announcements of CAPK’s VITA Program before the screening of FLICS films at the Fox Theatre on 3/13 and 3/20/15.

Did a $20 “boost” of a “Just 3 weeks left till tax day” post on Facebook, which was viewed by close to 5,000 online users. Also a “Just 2 weeks left till tax day” post on April 1, which was viewed by close to 4,000 online users Most posts usually are viewed by a couple of hundred or a few hundred people on average.

Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

Staff attended a networking breakfast (3/6); a networking evening mixer (3/11); and an educational/networking lunch (3/26) to promote the upcoming 50th Anniversary Banquet (breakfast and dinner events) and to learn about potential solar installers (lunch event).

3/12/15 “Getting to Know You” meeting at BPN with McFarland City Manager and other Staff

Meeting yielded positive collaboration right away, with City of McFarland agreeing to display CAPK, VITA, 2-1-1, and Energy links on their home page, and inviting CAPK to submit articles to be printed in the McFarland bimonthly newspaper.

Advocacy

3/24/15 County Board of Supervisors Attended 2 p.m. Co. Supervisors Meeting and Invited Supervisors to attend 50th Anniversary Banquet and proclaim May 7 as Community Action Day in Kern. Supervisors agreed to do so at Superviros Maggard’s behest.

3/25/15 Bakersfield City Council Attended City Council Meeting and invited Mayor Hall and City Councilmembers to attend 50th Anniversary Banquet and proclaim May 7 as Community Action Day in Bakersfield. Mayor Hall readily agreed to issue a proclamation.
