The Iowa Council of the United Blind is a private voluntary membership organization incorporated pursuant to Iowa law as a non-profit group. The Iowa Council of the United Blind is affiliated with the American Council of the Blind. Most of ICUB’s members and officers are blind, but sighted individuals are encouraged to join and help with the policies and work of the organization.

GENERAL INFORMATION

SMOKING POLICY: Effective March 1, 2008, the hotel is 100 percent smoke free. There are benches and receptacles outside the front door for those who smoke.

PHONE CALLS: Local calls may be made from guestrooms free of charge.

DOG RELIEF AREA: Please ask at the Front Desk for directions to the dog relief area designated by the hotel.

MEAL FUNCTIONS: For those wishing to join us for meals only, the Luncheon will be served at 12:15pm on Saturday, at a cost of $15.00. There will be a no-host social hour beginning at 6:00pm Saturday evening and dinner will be served at 7:00pm. The cost of the banquet is $25.00

The RESOLUTIONS COMMITTEE, chaired by Creig Slayton, will have reviewed and determined which order they will be presented to the attendees.

DOOR PRIZES: Throughout the convention meetings and the banquet, door prizes will be distributed. You must be registered with the convention and present to be eligible for a door prize. Robert Spangler, Chair will accept donated door prizes or you may leave them at the Registration Table.

In keeping with tradition, a $100 door prize will be drawn at the close of the convention on Sunday. Thanks to the Cedar Rapids and Des Moines chapters for contributing the $100 this year.

RESTAURANT: The hotel is connected to Bennigan’s. The restaurant is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. A breakfast buffet is available as well as menu items. A lounge is in the front of the restaurant for your enjoyment.

OTHER AMENITIES: In the business center, just to the right of the front door as you exit, the coffee pot is always on along with hot water for tea. The ATM is also located in this area.
