The Academic Programs within the College of ACES comprise seven departments and one school. The college offers 22 under-graduate majors, 15 masters programs, and three Ph.D. programs. There are approximately 1,500 undergraduate students and 190 graduate students currently pursuing an education in the college.

Agricultural Economics and Agricultural BusinessWe prepare students for careers in the increasingly global and information-driven world of agriculture, food companies and mar-kets, and environmental and natural resource management agen-cies, as well as companies and agencies outside the food and fiber sector. Our graduates are well prepared for excellent business and academic career opportunities.

Animal and Range ScienceOur students are given the very best hands-on instruction in animal science or rangeland resources. Fully equipped labs allow students access to cutting-edge research in livestock nutrition, genetics, physiology, endocrinology, meat science, wool, toxicol-ogy, watershed and rangeland ecology, weed and brush control, plant systematics, and grazing management.

Entomology, Plant Pathology and Weed ScienceOur multi-disciplinary group of scientists and teachers trains students to understand the biology of pest organisms, their interactions, and how pests impact urban, agricultural, and natural resources. The department teaches integrated biology so students can understand and manage cur-rent and emerging issues in plant and animal health and protection, using tools from molecular to landscape scales.

FAFSAThe Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an application that determines a student’s qualification for federal aid, including grants, loans, and work-study. The FAFSA opens on October 1st of every year. NMSU’s priority deadline is March 1st.

TYPES OF AIDThere are several types of financial aid available at NMSU. These include scholarships, federal and state grants and work-study, and federal loans. To be eligible for federal aid, you will need to complete the FAFSA.

use financial aid, grants,

or scholarships like the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship and

the Critical Need Language Award toward their

experience. Additionally, there are

scholarships students can apply

for through NMSU, the Office of

Education Abroad, and other

departments and organizations.

allows students to study,

research, intern and volunteer in

over 60 countries. With varying

programs throughout Europe,

Latin America, Asia, South

Pacific and the Middle East,

students can study nearly

anywhere. FINANCINGEvery major has the opportunity to

study abroad - that includes

engineering, nursing, and

education! We offer programs from

1 week to an academic year during

semesters, summer, and breaks!

From engineering in Spain, to

Arabic and Islamic studies in

Oman, there's a program for

Start the process of studying

abroad by visiting the study

abroad fair, giving us a call

(575-646-5107), or coming

by the office. We’ll make you

an appointment with one of

our advisors, depending on

where you want to go. We

will walk you through our

program options, and help

you select the best

destination based on your

major, budget, time

restraints, and interests!

Applications are typically due

the semester before you

intend to study abroad, but it

is never too early to sign up.

The more time you give

yourself, the easier it will be

to get the classes you need

in the destination you want,

and to save up for your

adventure.

Once you’ve selected a

location, we’ll work with you

on your application and travel

logistics, including applying

for your passport, getting

your courses approved for

transfer, and getting your

paperwork in order for your

host university. We wrap up

the semester with our Pre-

Departure Orientation, and

then you’re on your way!

Once you return, we’ll help

you transfer your credits, and

provide opportunities for you

to stay involved in the

international scene on

campus.
