    PAY: For the post of Principal Rs. 18,400/- - Rs. 22,400/- (Minimum to be fixed at Rs. 19,400/-). Professor

    Rs.16,400/- - Rs. 22,400/-; Assistant Professor Rs. 12,000/- - Rs. 18,300/-; Lecturer Rs. 8,000/- - Rs. 13,500/-.

    N.B.: The posts of Principal, Professor, Assistant Professor and Lecturer are transferable from one State Government

    Engineering/Technological College to another within the State of West Bengal.

    AGE: Not more than 50 years (for the posts of Principal and Professor) 40 years (for the posts of Assistant Professor) and

    35 years (for the posts of Lecturer) on 01.01.2008 upper age limit is relaxable in the case of candidates

    who are specially qualified and experienced and also in case of candidates who are already employed inInstitutions/Organisations under the State Government or Central Government.

    QUALIFICATIONS: (For the Posts of Principal) Essential: i) Doctorate degree with a first class degree at Bachelorsor Masters level in Civil Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Information Technology/Computer

    Science & Engineering/Electronics & Tele-Communication Engineering [for the post at A(i)] and in Leather

    Technology/Information Technology/Computer Science & Engineering [for the post at A(ii)]. In addition, a candidate should

    be an eminent person in the field. (ii) Fifteen years experience in Teaching/Research/Industry out of which 5 years must be

    at the level of Professor in Engineering/Technology.

    NOTE : Candidates from Industry/Profession with Masters degree in Engineering/Technology and with professional work which is

    significant and with 15 years experience of which at least 5 years should be at a Senior Level, would also be eligible.

    DESIRABLE: Administrative experience in a responsible position.

    For the posts of Professor : Essential : i) Doctorate degree with a first class degree at Bachelors or Masters Level inthe appropriate branch of Engineering/Technology; ii) 10 (ten) years experience in Teaching/Research/Industry out of

    which 5 years must be at the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent.

    NOTE : Candidates from Industry/Profession with Masters degree in Engineering/Technology and with professional work which is

    significant and with 10 years experience of which at least 5 years should be at a Senior Level, would also be eligible.

    For the posts of Assistant Professor : Essential: i) Doctorate degree with a first class degree at Bachelors or Masterslevel in the appropriate branch of Engineering/Technology; ii) 3 (three) years experience in Teaching/Research/Industry in

    the appropriate field at the level of Lecturer or equivalent.

    NOTE : Candidates from Industry/Profession with Masters degree in Engineering/Technology and with professional work which issignificant and with 5 years experience at a Senior Level, would also be eligible.

    For the posts of Lecturer : Essential : First Class Bachelors degree or first class Masters degree in the appropriate

    branch of Engineering/Technology.

    2. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF TRAINING & PLACEMENT AT THE GOVT. COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING &

    LEATHER TECHNOLOGY IN W.B.G.S. : Two (1 reserved for S.C. candidates).

    QUALIFICATIONS : Essential : (i) Doctorate degree with a first class degree at Bachelors or Masters level in

    Computer Science & Engineering/Information Technology/Textile Technology, (ii) Three years experience in

    Teaching/Research/Industry in the appropriate field at the level of Lecturer or equivalent.

    NOTE: Candidates from Industry/Profession with Masters degree in Engineering/Technology and with professional work

    which is significant and with 5 years experience at a senior level, would also be eligible.

    AGE: Not more than 45 years on 01.01.2008.Upper age limit is relaxable in the case of candidates who are

    specially qualified and experienced and also for candidates who are already employed in institutions/organizations

    under the State/Central Government.

    PAY: Rs. 12,000/- - 18,300/-.

    N.B. : The posts are transferable from one State Government Engineering/Technological College to another within the

    State of West Bengal.

    3. POSTS UNDER HIGHER EDUCATION DEPARTMENT, TECHNICAL BRANCH IN W.B.G.S.

    A. DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF TECHNICAL EDUCTION, W.B. (ENGINEERING/TECHNOLOGY WING) : Two

    PAY: Rs. 10,000/- - Rs. 15,525/-.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Essential : i) Bachelors degree with 1st Class or 60% marks or B+ in the aggregate or a

    Post-graduate degree in any branch of Engineering/Technology or equivalent; ii) 6 (six) years experience in

    teaching/research/administration/industry including two years experience in teaching/research in an Institution of University

    standard or 2 years experience as a Principal/Head of the Department of a Polytechnic.

    Desirable: i) Degree or Diploma or some exposure in Management Science; ii) Experience in administration of Technical

    Education; iii) Experience in Computer Programming/Data Processing; iv) Corporate Membership of a professional

    Institution.

    AGE: Not more than 40 years on 01.01.2008 relaxable for otherwise well-qualified and experience candidates and forpersons holding substantive appointment under the Government of West Bengal.

    PAY: Rs. 8,000/- - Rs. 13,500/-.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Essential : i) Degree; ii) Five years experience in Office administration in a responsible post in a

    Govt. Office or in an organization of repute, preferably in an educational institution; iii) Adequate knowledge of Govt.Accounts; iv) Knowledge of Bengali Spoken and Written.

    Desirable: Experience in conducting examinations.

    AGE: Not more than 40 years on 01.01.2008 relaxable for specially qualified and experience candidates and for persons

    holding substantive appointment under the Education Department, Government of West Bengal.

    5. LECTURER IN INSTRUMENTATION TECHNOLOGY FOR GOVT. POLYTECHNICS IN W.B.G.S. : Two

    (1 reserved for B.C. candidates)

    PAY: Rs. 8,000/- - Rs. 13,500/-.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Essential : i) First Class Bachelors degree or a First Class Post-graduate degree in instrumentationEngineering/Technology or a First Class diploma in Electronics or Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, or

    Electrical Engineering with post diploma qualifications in Instrumentation Engineering/Technology both from recognised

    S.C.E.T.E./Institution/University or any equivalent qualification from any Institute approved by A.I.C.T.E.; ii) Two years

    experience in Teaching/Research/Industry after acquiring the essential qualifications mentioned above; iii) Special

    knowledge in Process Control, Instrumentation or Micro-Processor controlled Instrumentation; iv) Good power ofexpression in Bengali/Nepali - Spoken and Written.

    Desirable: i) Higher qualification over and above the essential qualifications in the appropriate branch ofEngineering/Technology; ii) Degree/Diploma in Technical Teaching from any University or Technical Teachers Training

    Institute; iii) Corporate membership of professional Institution/Bodies.

    AGE: Not more than 35 years on 01.01.2008 relaxable for specially qualified and experienced candidates and for personsholding substantive appointment under the Government.

    N.B.: i) Selected candidates are liable to be transferred to any Govt. Polytechnics/Institutes/Establishments in the West

    Bengal carrying same scale of Pay.

    ii) A candidate without a Degree/Diploma in Technical teaching shall, if appointed as a Lecturer, be required to acquire

    such Degree/Diploma within 6 years, failing which he/she may not be awarded the next scale of pay under the careeradvancement scheme of the Government.

    6. NEPALI MISTRESS, DOW HILL GIRLS SCHOOL, KURSEONG IN W.B.G.S. [Men Unsuitable] : One

    PAY: Rs. 8,000/- - Rs. 13,500/-.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Essential : i) Second Class Masters degree or Honours degree in Nepali; ii) Degree in

    Teaching/Education or equivalent (candidates not possessing this qualification may apply, but if selected shall have to acquire suchqualification within three years of joining and will draw, on ad-hoc basis, the initial of time-scale of pay till obtaining the same); iii)Teaching experience in English Medium Secondary Schools, preferably residential ones, relaxable for otherwise well-qualified candidates;

    iv) Ability to teach in English Medium.

    Desirable: i) Ability to organise extra curricular activities such as performance of dramas, organisining literary meetings,educational excursions etc.; ii) Knowledge of Bengali and Nepali Spoken and Written.

    AGE: Not more than 35 years on 01.01.2008 relaxable for otherwise well-qualified candidates and for persons holdingsubstantive appointment in teaching branch of Education Department, West Bengal.

    N.B.: i) Qualifications relaxable at Commissions discretion for otherwise well-qualified candidates provided that no suitable candidatepossessing minimum qualification is available.

    ii) Candidates whose mother tongue is not Bengali, if selected, will have to pass departmental examination in Bengali before

    confirmation.

    iii) Free partly furnished quarters will be provided on certain conditions.

    7. JOINT DIRECTOR, ANIMAL RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT (FODDER) IN W.B. HIGHER ANIMAL

    HUSBANDRY & VETERINARY SERVICE: One (reserved for S.C. candidates)

    PAY: Rs. 10,000/- - 15,525/-.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Essential : i) Master degree in Agriculture with a degree in Agriculture; ii) Eight years experience

    in field in fodder development/research on fodder development/feed and nutrition etc. ; iii) Eight years experience in Govt.fodder farms with at least two years as head of the farm and D.D.O. Experience in State Govt./Central Govt. farms or in

    State Govt. undertaking Farms/Central Govt. undertaking farms or in any joint sector farms under the control of State

    Govt./Central Govt. iv) Knowledge of Bengali/Nepali and English Spoken and Written.

    Desirable: i) Ph.D. in Agriculture; ii) Degree or diploma in Business Management of a University recognised by

    A.I.C.T.E.

    AGE: Not more than 52 years on 01.01.2008.

    8. ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER IN W.B. DAIRY DEVELOPMENT SERVICE (GENERAL) : Two (1 reserved

    for S.C. candidates).

    PAY: Rs. . 8,000/- - Rs. 13,500/-.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Essential : i) Degree; ii) Five years experience in Personnel Management in a Govt. Office or a

    Statutory Body or a Commercial concern of repute.

    Desirable: i) Experience of work in a big Dairy Farm or Livestock farm; ii) Knowledge of Bengali Spoken and Written.

    AGE: Not more than 35 years on 01.01.2008 relaxable in the case of highly qualified and experienced candidates and for

    persons already in the service of a Government or a Statutory Body or a recognised Institution.

    NOTE: i) Qualifications are relaxable at Commissions discretion for otherwise well-qualified and experienced candidates.

    ii) Departmental candidates are eligible to apply.

    9. POSTS IN WEST BENGAL ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND VETERINARY SERVICE: One Hundred (32 reserved

    for S.C., 12 reserved for S.T. , 8 reserved for B.C. candidates and 3 for Persons with disabilities)

    QUALIFICATIONS: Essential : i) Degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V. Sc. & A.H.)or Veterinary

    Science (B.V. Sc.) or any other qualification as mentioned in the First and Second Schedule of the Indian Veterinary Council

    Act, 1984 (52 of 1984); ii) Registration with a Veterinary Council established under any statute of the State Government orthe Government of India; iii) Knowledge of Bengali/Nepali Spoken and Written.

    AGE: Not more than 32 years on 01.01.2008, relaxable by 5 years for i) specially well-qualified candidates or ii) personsalready in service of Government or a statutory body or a recognised Institution.

    10. DEPUTY DIRECTORY (HYDRAULICS) GROUP A IN THE RIVER RESEARCH INSTITUTE, W.B. UNDER

    THE DEPTT. OF I. & W. IN W.B.G.S.: Two (1 reserved for S.C. candidates)

    QUALIFICATIONS: Essential : [For the post at A ] Degree in Civil or Agricultural Engineering or equivalent; [For

    the post at B] Degree in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering or equivalent.

    Desirable: [For both the categories of posts] One years Post-Graduate practical training or study or research or practicalEngineering experience.

    employment of Central or State Government or any statutory body recognised for the purpose by Government and who are

    NOTE: i) Candidates will be selected on the basis of competitive examinations to be conducted separately for each cadre as

    at (A) & (B) followed by interviews.

    ii) Selected candidates may be liable, before completing ten years service or ordinarily before attaining the age of

    forty years, to serve in any post or service connected with the defence of India, for a minimum period of four

    years including period of training, if any;

    iii) Departmental candidates are eligible to apply provided they fulfil the requisite qualification;

    iv) No candidate will be allowed to take more than three chances. Candidates must submit a declaration to that

    effect in their application.

    12. ASSISTANT ENGINEER (MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL) IN WEST BENGAL PUBLIC HEALTH ENGINEERING SERVICE(MECHANICAL/ELECTRICAL): Twelve (2 each reserved for S.C. & B.C. and 1 for S.T. candidates).

    PAY: Rs. . 8,000/- - Rs. 13,500/-.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Essential : Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

    Desirable: One years Post-graduate practical training or Study or Research or practical engineering experience.

    AGE: Not more than 32 years on 01.01.2008 relaxable for those who have been in the employ of Central or StateGovernment or Statutory Body recognised for the purpose by Government and are not out of such employment for more

    than a year on 01.01.2008 to the extent of actual period spent continuously in such employment.

    A. ASSISTANT MISTRESS IN CHEMISTRY (Bengali Medium) [Men unsuitable] 2 (Two)

    B. ASSISTANT MASTER IN ARABIC (Urdu Medium) [Women unsuitable] - 1 (One)

    PAY : For all posts at Categories `A & `B Rs. 6,000/- - Rs. 12,000/- for candidates with Masters Degree and Rs.

    5,500/- - Rs. 11,325/- for candidates with Honours Degree.

    QUALIFICATIONS :

    a) ESSENTIAL :

    i) For all posts at categories `A & `B Second Class Honours or Second Class Masters Degree in appropriatesubjects viz. Chemistry or Arabic as the case may be

    ii) For all posts at categories `A& `B - Knowledge in Bengali Spoken and Written and for the post atcategory B - Knowledge in Urdu Spoken and Written.

    b) DESIRABLE :

    Degree in Teaching/Education or its equivalent (candidates not possessing this qualification may apply but if selected will

    draw the initial Pay of time scale on an ad-hoc basis till obtaining the same).

    AGE : For all posts at categories `A&`B

    Not more than 32 years on 01.01.2008,. relaxable upto 35 years for specially well-qualified and experienced candidates and

    for persons holding substantive appointment in the teaching branch of Education Department, West Bengal.

    N.B. : Selected candidates may be posted in any Government School/Madrasah in West Bengal and their services are transferable;

    14. KEEPER, STATE ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM under the Information & Cultural Affairs Deptt., W.B. in theWest Bengal General Service 1 (One).

    PAY : Rs. 6,000/- - Rs. 12,000/-.

    QUALIFICATIONS :

    i) A Post-Graduate Degree of a recognised University in Museology or Archaeology or Ancient Indian Historyand Culture or Islamic History and Culture or any Classical Languages with specialisation in any branch of

    Archaeology.

    ii) At least 3 (three) years experience in a reputed Museum or a comparable Institution.

    PAY : Rs. 4,800/- - Rs. 10,925/-

    QUALIFICATIONS :

    ESSENTIAL :

    i) B.Sc. in Computer Science or Diploma in Computer Engineering or B.Sc. plus DOEACC A passed orequivalent.

    ii) Two years experience in Computer Programming in a Government Establishment or Statutory Concern, or

    Private Concern of repute.

    iii) Knowledge of Bengali and English Spoken & Written.

    AGE: Not more than 32 years on 01.01.2008,. relaxable at the discretion of the Public Service Commission, West Bengal for

    candidates having higher qualifications and/or longer experience than those prescribed and for Persons holding substantiveappointment under the Government.

    FEE : Candidates must enclose with their application a fee of Rs.200/- (Rupees two hundred) only for the posts at

    item (1) to (12) and Rs. 150/- (Rupees one hundred fifty) only for the posts at item (13) to (15) by Indian Postal Order

    Bank Draft, Cash etc. will not be accepted. No application will be considered unless accompanied with the requisite

    application fees. Candidates belonging to S.C./S.T. of West Bengal and persons with disabilities specified under Persons

    With Disabilities Rules, 1999 are not required to pay any fee. The application of such candidates will not be accepted if thesame is not accompanied with the attested copy of S.C./S.T./Persons with Disabilities certificate. Such exemption of fees is,

    however, not applicable to any B.C. candidate. No claim for refund of the fee will be entertained nor will it be held in reserve

    for any other examination.

    I N F O R M A T I O N1. Candidates who wish to apply for more than one category of posts should submit separate application alongwith requisite

    2. The qualifications prescribed in the advertisement are as per the notified recruitment rules issued by Government.

    3. All the degrees/diplomas/certificates mentioned in the advertisement must have been obtained from recognised

    Universities/Institutions.

    4. The prescribed essential qualifications are the minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle applicants to be

    called in for the interview. Where the number of applications received in response to the advertisement is large and it is not

    convenient or possible for the Commission to interview all the applicants the Commission may restrict the number of

    candidates for interview to a reasonable limit on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimumprescribed in the advertisement or on the basis of a Screening Test /Written Test .

    5. In cases where no Division/Class is awarded and only grading is done, exact percentage of marks and conversion formulaadopted are to be mentioned with documentary evidence.

    6. Where experience of a number of years is prescribed as an item of qualification this would mean only experience/research

    experience gained in full time employment/research.

    8. The benefits of reservation of vacancies and upper age concession upto 5 years are admissible only to S.C. and S.T.

    candidates of West Bengal and upto 3 years to B.C.candidates of West Bengal. S.C., S.T. and B.C. candidates of other States

    may apply for unreserved vacancies as general candidates. Such benefits are also available upto 45 years for Persons with
