Directions for creating of multimedia presentation by participants of Polish

mobility within Leonardo da Vinci „Agropuzzle 2” project.

The aim of presentation:• To show characteristic features of running a farm and agrobusiness enterprises in Poland on the basis of:1) Creamery in Głubczyce2) Plant Breeding Department

Each group (country) prepare its presentation in their mother tongue or in English for every visited place taking into account: Characteristic features listed above Personal remarks and feelings not included in the chart Photos taken on the spot

1.Individual farms and specialization

in terms of plants and animal production – main products

• Dairy Cooperative Glubczyce was established in the 1920s and is engaged in the collection and processing of milk and foodstuffs trade. Co-owners are members - producers of milk from the districts Głubczyce Kędzierzyn-Koźle Prudnik Krapkowice and Coaches.

• Main products are:fresh milk, kefir, yoghurt, cream, butter, etc.

• Danko Plant Breeders LTD localized in Modzurów is 100% stated Treasury owned. Danko is a leader on the Polish cereals market and the main activities of the company are plant breeding, seed production (cereal, legume, grass and oil seed rape) and milk production.

3.Vocational education of company owners and their children

connected to Agricultural School

• The owner has studies in the processing of milk.

• The team of Danko firm include 7 people, out of which two are agronomist, two are studying at this moment and the rest of them are technicians.



4.Acquiring of funds from European projects aimed

at development and modernization of farms and enterprises (in close relation to agricultural education)

• The project start in 2004, by SAPARD programme and develop this activity with other 4 projects.

• The next project will start next year.

• The firm didn’t acquire EU funds but receive money from Ministry of Agriculture.



5.Cooperation with raw materials’ suppliers and recipients of farm

goods, both animal and vegetable

• The creamery is cooperating for raw material with 200 farmers around 100 km.

• They collaborate with farmers and other companies for selling the raw material (seeds).



6.Any marketing activities aiming at acquiring raw material

and cooperation with recipients of final product

• Using the EU Programme “A glass of milk” the factory want to develop among children and young people good eating habits by promoting the consumption of milk and milk products.

•Company’s mission is to improve the efficiency of crop production through the continuous supply of new varieties with improved agricultural traits and grain quality to farmers.


7.Showing significant production connections with foreign

markets

• The factory has contracts with big companies such as: Lidl, Biedronka, Tesco and they also export the products in Romania, Germany, Italy.

• The seeds produce at Danko firm are sold for local market and companies from Poland.



8.Development of side activities such as

agritourism and restaurants

• The factory doesn’t have any connection with agritourism and restaurants, only

with schools by programme “ A glass of milk”.

9.The use of natural climatic and soil qualities in running

a farming company within given area

• This area has a good condition of weather and soil for growing of fodder plants used in animal feeding and results the good fresh milk for factory.

• The pedoclimatic conditions allow to obtain and cultivate around 100 varieties of crops. The most important crops are: triticale, winter wheat and rye.

• The average of precipitation is around 800 mm/year and it is favorable to growing the crops.

• This area is a good environment for breeding the crops.

10.The use of landscape qualities in running a farm

and agricultural company

• The good quality of milk results from pasture and meadows of this region.

• The landscape is favorable to develop an breeding field.



11.The use of high quality products

• The use of fresh milk from farmers is tested and analyzed for protein and fat. The milk is controlled all the processing time by testing samples of milk and final product in special laboratory, by implemented the Quality Control Management (HACCP) by the storage and transport in good conditions.

• After years of tests and researches results new and improve varieties of seeds with good proprieties for cultivation.



12.Reduction of unemployment in the local area due

to creation of new workplaces (recently)

• The factory has around 100 employees from local area, 10 of them work in offices, 40 workers in distribution and 50 in processing of milk.

• The Department of Breeding has 7 employees and in the summer time, students are coming to study and work from University of Wroclaw and Katowice.



Your opinion about visited places

Advantages:-the use of high quality equipment-pedoclimatic conditions favorable to run the activities-contracts with big companies-very strict control to obtain the high quality of products- help reduce unemployment and retraining the local workforce-export the products-use of trained employees

Disadvantages:-fluctuation of milk price
