AIESEC is the world’s largest student-run organization and the leading platform for youngpeople to develop their leadership potential. AIESEC is composed of over 50,000 studentand recent graduate volunteers from over 107 countries, and has a network of over onemillion alumni that include leaders of industry and heads of state. AIESEC provides itsmembers with the skills and experience needed to transform them from high-potentialstudents into the leaders of tomorrow. AIESEC’s innovative development process consists ofunmatched leadership experiences and global internships.

A key advantage AIESEC members have over many students is that they routinely acquirereal-world skills and experiences, often relating to their areas of study. Volunteering inAIESEC enhances valuable competencies including leadership, teamwork, interpersonal

The Global Internship Program

AIESEC’s Global Internship Program connects companies with an immense talent pool of thebest and brightest students. Those students are in turn provided with internship opportunitiesin the fields of management, development, education or technical work. All parties benefitfrom the inevitable exchange of international perspectives and global ideas.

For over 50 years Canadian companies have relied on the Global Internship Program tomeet their employment needs by gaining access to a global network of responsible youngleaders. A sample of companies in our National Partner Group that are listed below aremembers of this global network.

By participating at an AIESEC conference, students are exposed to a unique learningenvironment that develops certain leadership qualities. This learning environment ispossible through individual discovery, team experiences, mentoring, virtual spaces,seminars, and learning circles.

AIESEC Conferences

Individual Discovery is encouraged by goal setting, feedback, and reflection sessions, aswell as creating awareness of different opportunities within and outside AIESEC.

Team Experiences are created within the various sessions through simulated challenges,portfolio discussions, and daily meetings within each local committee.

Mentoring relationships are forged between our members and with the AIESEC partners andsupporters during luncheons, sessions, and during networking events.

Virtual Spaces play a large role in tying this international organization together. Online toolsand resources are provided to our delegates to support this global network.

Seminars presented by members or by partners and sponsors help supplement the learningand development of our delegates.

Learning Circles are the local learning communities to discuss and share information aboutissues or topics common between members, partners and sponsors.

Ontario and Atlantic Regional Conference 2011: S.T.E.P.Event Overview

AIESEC Carleton is thrilled to be hosting Ontario and Atlantic RegionalConference (OARC) from September 30th to October 2nd, 2011. Thisannual conference welcomes the best and brightest students fromuniversities across the Ontario and the Atlantic region includingCarleton, Guelph, McMaster, Ottawa, Queen’s, Ryerson, St. Mary’s,Toronto, Trent, Western Ontario, Wilfred Laurier, Windsor , andYork . OARC is an intense three-day learning experience involving thelocal community, our national and local partners, and over 180 ofAIESEC’s top student leaders. These students hail from all universitylevels, both undergraduate and graduate, and many fields of studylevels, both undergraduate and graduate, and many fields of studyincluding Business, Commerce, IT & Engineering.

The theme for OARC 2011 is S.T.E.P.- Striving Together EmpoweringPotential . This theme speaks to the purpose of OARC: for AIESEC’spartners and current leaders to train and develop the next generation ofleaders into globally minded business leaders of tomorrow.

OARC is a conference designed with a specific focus on new membersof AIESEC and gives an overview of what AIESEC is and what it does.It is also an opportunity for the current leaders of AIESEC Canada toregroup, brainstorm, and grow as individuals. Delegates will attendnumerous workshops, seminars and discussions at the conference toperpetuate the development of their professional skills.
