What is AIESEC?AIESEC is a french acroynym for Association Internationale des Etudiants en Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (Eng. International Association of Student inEconomics and Management) and is the world’s largest independent non-profit international stu-dent run organization. It was created after in 1948 after World War II by a French youth - Erik Malson, who had experienced the painful price of the war and wanted a way to develop friendly relations between european nations.

Erik Malson gathered six other students from all over Europe and founded AIESEC in Stockholm, Sweden. It began in 1948 as an organisation to help develop “friendly relations” between member countries. At the time, the mission was “to expand the understanding of a nation by expanding the understanding of the individuals, changing the world one person at a time.” This was achieved through exchange programs between participating countries. Soon, AIESEC became popular and by the end of 1960, 2467 exchanges were reported,

Nowadays, AIESEC’s vision for “world peace and development of human potential” (Peace and Fulfilment ofHumankind’s Potential) is carried out through providing an international learning plat-form focused on exchange of international talent through internship programs, developing overseas growth plans, and providing opportunities for young leaders to develop their potential. Through its initia-tives, AIESEC aspires to further promote global peace, economic progress and social development in the world.

The AIESEC Experience

The AIESEC Experience represents the main tool which our global organization is using for the development and involve-ment of members, young people and organizations that inter-act with AIESEC. It is designed to fulfill the main outcomes that AIESEC wants to achieve, thus reaching closer to our vision in the same time:

- Our experience will make us the most diverse and credible Global Youth Voice.” - Our experience will make us the First Choice Partner across sectors. - Our experience will make us create a cross-generational impact on society.

The AIESEC Experience is organized in three phases which address different needs of young people interested in their de-velopment and making a change through their active involve-ment in the community:

1. Engagement with AIESEC

In this phase, young people are introduced with AIESEC activities through different engagement channels: direct participation in projects, trainings, events etc. If you consider joining the organization later, this is where you can learn about the WHY, HOW and WHAT of AIESEC.

2. Experiential Leadership Development

The main programmes of the organization are delivered in the Experiential Leadership Development phase. This is the leadership development centre where the members can learn and gain every-thing from the global leadership network of AIESEC. The four programmes are separate products that we offer to young people and organizations for their further development and contribution to soci-ety, and can be completed in any order:

Team member programme Team leader programme Global community development programme Global internship programme

3. Life-long Connection

Through this stage, AIESEC presents each of its Alumni a platform for continuous growth, thus enabling them to make a constant positive impact on society.
