Dear Parents,

The Squadron Sponsoring Committee would like to welcome you to the 111 Pegasus family. We encourage all parents to fully participate in creating an enjoyable, positive and safe environment for our children.

111 Pegasus is one of the top air cadet squadrons, largely because of the dedication of its Officers and volunteers. The Squadron Sponsoring Committee is the official charitable unit of the squadron. Its role is to partner with the Officers and staff to support and supplement the squadron training program and activities. This includes organizing fund raising to meet the approved budget, registering and screening volunteers, recruiting new cadets, conducting public relations, purchasing training equipment and band instruments, providing extra sports and flying sessions, organizing annual banquets and other social activities, supporting the annual ceremonial review, running the effective speaking program and competition, providing full financial management of the squadron funds and assets, and many more. As such, the Committee needs your help.

This coming year, the Squadron Sponsoring Committee has many activities planned; the following is just a highlight of some of these plans:

Fall and Spring Tag Days – Parents are needed to drive cadets to designated areas in Greater Vancouver to solicit donations and promote the air cadet program. Annual Christmas Party – Officers, parents and cadets join together for one fun evening in December to enjoygreat food and company. Effective Speaking Program – This program provides cadets with an opportunity to develop essential skills such as communication and leadership. Coached by Toastmasters, this 6 week program will help cadets to increase self-esteem and build up confidence. Duke of Edinburgh Program – This program is open to young people from age 14 to 25. It encourages young people to make the best use of their leisure time both actively and creatively, and provides opportunities for challenges to be met and awards to be earned. Our squadron supports cadets in pursuit of this program by offering various extra outdoor activities. Annual Ceremonial Review – Held in June each year, this is the event where you will see your child(ren)’s efforts in the cadet program summarized and performed for inspection by Officers, special guests and assigned inspectors. It is a day to “show off” our cadets, and “be proud” of their accomplishments; whether big or small.

Please feel free to contact us at [email protected] if you need more information, or can support the program with your talent, time or donation (tax receipts may be issued). We are happy to hear from you and more importantly, look forward to seeing you at one of the squadron activities.

Please complete the forms along with your annual registration fee (see registration form for details), and return them to the squadron.

Sincerely,111 Pegasus Squadron Sponsoring Committee
