    Prevent Accidents

    To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock, or injury to persons whenusing your air conditioner, follow basic precautions, including thefollowing:• Be sure the electrical service is adequate for the model you have

    chosen. This information can be found on the serial plate, which islocated on the side of the cabinet and behind the grille.

    • If theair conditioneris to be installed in a window, you will probablywant to clean both sides of the glass first. If the window is atriple-tracktype with a screen panel included, remove the screen completelybefore installation.

    • Be sure the airconditioner has been securelyand correctly installedaccording to the separate installation instructions provided with thismanual. Save this manual and the installation instructions forpossible futureusein removing orreinstalling this unit.

    • When handling theair conditioner, be careful toavoid cuts fromsharpmetal fins onfront and rearcoils.

    Electrical Information

    The complete electrical rating of yournew room airconditioner is statedon the serial plate. Refer to the rating when checking the electricalrequirements.• Be sure the air conditioneris properly grounded. To minimize shock

    and fire hazards, proper grounding is important. The power cord isequipped with athree-prong grounding plug and acurrentleakagedetection device forprotection against shock& firehazards.

    • Your air conditioner must be used in a properly grounded wallreceptacle. If thewall receptacleyouintendtouseisnotadequatelygrounded or protected by a time delay fuseor circuit breaker, haveaqualified electrician install the proper receptacle.

    • Do notrun air conditioner with outside protective cover in place. Thiscould result in mechanical damage within the airconditioner.

    • Do not usean extension cordor an adapterplug.

    Energy Saving Ideas

    EN• Donot block inside air flowwith blinds, curtainsor furniture; or

    outside with shrubs, enclosures, or other buildings.• The capacity of the room air conditioner must fit the room size for

    efficient and satisfactory operation.• Install the room air conditioner on the shady sideofyour home. A

    window thatfaces north is best because it is shaded most of the day.• Close the fireplace damper, floorandwallregisters so coolair does

    not escape upthe chimney andinto the ductwork.• Keep blinds and drapes in other windows closed duringthe sunniest

    part of the day.• Clean the air filteras recommended in the section "Care and Cleaning"• Proper insulation and weatherstrippingin your home will help keep

    warm airout and cool airin.• External house shadingwith trees, plantsor awnings will help reduce

To adjusttimer setting, tapor hold theUP arrow(A ) orthe DOWN arrow(_ ) tochange delay timer at .5 hour increments, up to 10 hours, then at 1 hourincrements up to 24 hours. The control will count down the timeremaining until start (8, 7.5, 7,etc.). The Delay Start mode automaticallyselects cooling at High Fan Speed. The temperature maintained will bethe same as previously set. To change the set temperature, press"COOL " then Up or Down arrows until the desired temperature isindicated on the display. After 5 seconds, the control will automaticallychange the displayback to thehours remaining untilthe unit willstart/stop.Turning the unit "ON" or "OFF" at any time will cancel the Delay Start/Stopfunction.

    NOTE: In this" MODE " the selected temperature will increase by 2°F 30minutes after the mode is selected. The temperature will then increase byanother 2°F after an additional 30 minutes. This new temperature will bemaintained for 7 hours before it returns to the originally selectedtemperature. This ends the " Sleep " MODE and the unit will continue tooperate as originally programmed. The " Sleep" MODE program can becancelled at any time during operation by again pressing the " Sleep"button.

The LIGHT on the remote control willpulse to indicateit received thesignal. The LIGHT on the remote controlwill

    pulse each timeit sends asignal. It willcontinue to send this signal untilthefeature is deactivated by pressing the remote sensing button. If the unitdoesnot receive the remote sensing signal during any 3 minute interval, The unitwill beep to indicate the remote sensing mode has ended. Thedisplay on the remote control indicates the temperature atthe remote ONLY.

    Now that you have mastered the operating procedure, herearemorefeaturesinyourcontrolthatyoushould becomefamiliar with.

    • The"Cool" circuit has an automatic3minutetimedelayedstartiftheunitis turned off and on quickly. This preventsoverheating of the compressor and possible circuit breaker tripping. The fan will continue to run during this time.

    . The control will maintain the settemperature within ZF,between 60°Fand 90°Fdegrees.• The control iscapable of displaying temperature in degrees Fahrenheit or degrees Celsius. To convert fromone to the

    other and back, press and hold the " TEMP/TIMER" Up (_)and Down (_) buttons together for 3seconds.

    Fresh AirVent ControlFresh Air Vent ControlThe Fresh Air Vent allows the air conditioner to:

    1.Recirculate inside air -Vent Closed (See Fig.l)2.Draw fresh air into the room- Vent Open(See Fig.2)3.Exchange air from the room and draws fresh air into the room- Ventand Exhaust Open (See Fig .3)

    4-Way LouversAir directional louvers control air flow direction. You air conditionerhas the louver type described below.

    Auger TypeThe louvers will allow you to direct the air flow Up or Down and Left orRight throughout the room as needed. Rotate the Auger Wheel untilthe desired Left/Rightdirection is obtained. Pivot horizontal louversuntil the desired Up/Down direction is obtained.

  • Air Filter

    Care and CleaningClean your air conditioner occasionally to keep it looking new. Besure to unplugthe unit beforecleaning to preventshock or firehazards:

    Air Filter CleaningThe air filter should be checked at least once a month to see ifcleaning is necessary.Trapped particles in the filter can build up and cause an accumulationoffroston the cooling coils.• Open the front panel.• Grasp the filterby the centerand pull upand out.• Wash the filter using liquid dishwashing detergent and warm

    water. Rinse filter thoroughly. Gently shake excess waterfromthefilter. Be sure filteris thoroughly drybefore replacing.

    o Or, instead ofwashing you may vacuum the filter clean.

    Cabinet Cleaning• Be sure to unplug the air conditioner to prevent shock or fire

    hazard. Thecabinetandfrontmay bedustedwith an oil-free clothor washed with aclothdampenedina solution ofwarm water andmild liquid dishwashingdetergent. Rinse thoroughlyand wipe dry.

    • Never use harshcleaner, waxor polish onthe cabinet front.oBe sure to wring excess water from the cloth before wiping

    around the controls. Excess water in or around the controls maycause damage to the air conditioner.

    • Plug in air conditioner.

    Winter StorageIf you plan to store the air conditioner during the winter, removeit carefully from the window according to the installationinstructions. Coveritwith plasticorreturn it tothe original carton.NOTE: To prevent rust or electrical connections from beingdamaged, store air conditioner in an upright positionandinadry place.

    Air filter may be dirty. Clean filter. Refer to Care and Cleaning section. To defrost, setselector to FAN ONLY mode.

    Temperature is too low for night-time cooling. To defrost thecoil, settoFAN ONLYmode. Then, set temperature to a higher number.

    Room too cold

    Dirty air filter-air restricted. Clean airfilter. Referto Care and Cleaning section.

    Temperature is too high. Set temperature to alower number.

    Ventset at OPEN position. Set vent at CLOSED position for maximum cooling.

    Air direction louvers positioned improperly. Position Iouversfor better airdistribution.

    Front of unitis blocked bydrapes, blinds, furniture,etc.-restricts air distribution.Clearblockage in frontof unit.

    Doors, windows, registers, etc, open-cold air escapes. Close doors, windows,registers, etc.

    Unit recently turned on in hot room, allow additionaltimetoremove"stored heat"from walls, ceiling, floorand furniture.

    Air conditioner turnson andoff rapidly.

    Setting too low. Increase temperaturesetting.
