LCC = Investment + PCenergy + PCmaint. + PCcleaning + PCdisposal
• Investment – capital cost of filters, frames, installation
• PCenergy – present total cost of power
• PCmaintenance – present total cost of maintenance including filter replacement, etc.
• PCcleaning – present cost of duct cleaning
• PCdisposal – present total cost for removal and disposal of the used filters
components of Life-Cycle Cost
Clean air solutions
• PCEnergy – the current cost of energy Energy (E) = [(Q * ΔP * T)/(ŋ * Co)] * Pc
Q – Air flow, m3/s (cfm) ΔP – Average filter pressure loss, Pa (inWG)
T – Operation time, hr
ŋ – Fan efficiency, % Co – Constant, 1000 in SI units, 8515 in IP units
Pc – Cost of Power, $/kWh

Camfil Design vs. “Copy me” Design
Chandler or ‘V” type pleat will blind causing rapid increase in pressure drop.
Uniform radial style pleat loads evenly resulting, in lower
average pressure drop and long loading curve.

Background to cleanroom ventilation
Class 100 / ISO5 Class 10,000 / ISO7 & 100,000 / ISO8
Particles displaced
Particles diluted
Clean air solutions
Turbulent cleanroom ventilation – a component of contamination control
Clean air supply should dilute any residual particles shed from people and other emission sources and then be removed by the extract
system
Ventilation effectiveness defines how good the system is at diluting
contamination – and hence how much air is needed
(ac/hr)
Clean air solutions
Ventilation Effectiveness – key to successful contamination dilution Typical USA
Air can also bounce off the floor and
entrain contaminants
Clean air solutions
Ventilation Effectiveness – key to successful contamination dilution Typical EU/Asia
Cleaning could also be a concern

Room-Side Certification
Aerosol Dispersion Ring:
PAO test performed in compliance with ISO-IEST standards.
NO PAO IN HVAC DUCTING for fire safety & increased filter life.
Control Panel - Centralized & Ergonomic: Injection + control from room-side
requiring only 1 person to test filter.
Quick plus airtight connection using the quick disconnect ports.

Why is Room-Side Certification Important?
What location should aerosol be introduced? What type of terminal housing should an owner
or engineer select & why?
AHU Injection? 1 Ductwork Injection? 2 Hood Injection? 3

Updated Cleanroom Standards:
• Simplify the classification process and if possible remove the need to evaluate the 95% UCL for 2-9 sample locations
• Review the classification procedure and make it more applicable to rooms in operation. The contamination isn’t expected to be evenly distributed an assumption the current statistical approach makes.
• Avoid any radical changes to the principals of the current ISO cleanliness classes 1-9
